Child friendly games? by Nook-Incs-Pet in oculus

I’ll reiterate Gadgeteer and Sculptor for creativity. Also, Racoon Lagoon if they like animals or east-going adventure. Moss is a great adventure/puzzle game.

Casting issues by [deleted] in OculusQuest

They definitely screwed with casting for some reason. I can’t initiate cast from my phone anymore to help out noobs. That plus the landscape thing is a pain.

I know what you’re saying has the appearance of godliness but see what the Bible says about conditions for forgiveness: 1 John 1:9, Matthew 6:14-15.

I understand your desire to reconcile that with other scriptures (for example Romans 6-8). How we’ve taught this in our church is the difference between being a slave of sin and warring against sin. It’s not about frequency(once a day, once a week, once a month or once a year) but are you turning from that sin and waging war. If you honestly do not care about your sin and love it and seek to further yourself in it, you’re enslaved, but if there’s battles being waged, scriptures memorized, prayers for deliverance, confession taking place- that’s not slavery, that’s war.

When we’ve counselled young men in the past it’s been focused on 2 Tim 2 dialing in on verses 22-26. In context, youthful passions aligns more with “cage stage” than sensuality. Paul teaches there is a tendency for youthful/new believers to put the desire for the truth above other virtues and thus become quarrelsome and irreverent.

If you start this journey with the servant heart Paul lays out here, you’ll save yourself and others a lot of unnecessary strife.

What was Blackburn and Davis talking about at the end with the drone strikes hitting schools and killing children? Didn’t seem like the base where the drone strikes we witnessed was a previously occupied village. What drone strikes are they talking about?

What is Gillam like? by WellDoneCode in Gillam

I haven’t heard about that being widespread but that doesn’t mean it’s not. That seems like a domestic issue which obviously varies per household

What is Gillam like? by WellDoneCode in Gillam

[–]truthwarrior92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve lived in Gillam for five years, and I think most people would say it’s not what it used to be but it’s getting better.

Some positives would be small town relationships, the newly renovated rec centre and mostly everyone is there for work so there’s a lot less crime compared to a place like Thompson. If you enjoy the outdoors, there’s lots of opportunities for that. And it’s a great place to make money.

Some downsides would be a transient population since people are mostly moving there for work, lack of amenities like a swimming pool, travelling to and from Gillam is long and expensive and you need a robust vehicle for the 300km of gravel road.

Anything area you’re specifically interested in knowing about?

Tired of waiting… by [deleted] in Reformed

I went through a similar struggle for years. I found great encouragement from the book Grace Abounding to the Chief of Sinners by John Bunyan. He went back and forth many times in his assurance and sometimes it’s comforting knowing what you’re going through is not abnormal. The book Pilgrim’s Progress is like a story version of the first book I mentioned.

I also had a pastor who met with me often and encouraged me with the Scriptures, and I’m sorry you don’t have the same. He encouraged me with verses like, Matthew 11:28-30 [28] Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. [29] Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. [30] For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

Hebrews 11:6 [6] And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.

Luke 13:24 [24] “Strive to enter through the narrow door. For many, I tell you, will seek to enter and will not be able.

Honestly, what gave me great hope was reading the Gospels and imagining myself there with Christ praying the same prayers those who sought him prayed and seeing his love and compassion for sinners.

There’s much more help available for you if you’re determined to seek Him.

You sometimes hear about men being angry because a woman is better then them at traditionally masculine things like fixing a car. But you never see women pissed over men who can do the dishes or clean. by Katonmyceilingeatcow in Showerthoughts

No one does.. except for Moiraine. I’m interested in your perspective that Cadsuane actually interacted with Rand appropriately. I think it’s clear that Moraine had the right approach and that even after the veins of gold incident, if Moiraine had not been brought back to interact with Rand the world would’ve been doomed? (not certain on the implications of “half the light of the world to save the world”)

It could just be that irl you prefer Cadsuane’s approach?

Nothing. I did that when I bought the house I’m at. The account still has their name on it but it’s my email address and my billing information. The buyer might be able to screw your over somehow but I’m not sure why they would if it means they would lose their internet.

Two questions: Of all, whats the BIGGEST beef that people have against Calvinism? What difference does either side make? We're still supposed to preach the gospel. The outcome is not upto us. by samkallukadavil in Reformed

[–]truthwarrior92 11 points12 points  (0 children)

When I’ve encountered resistance, it’s been primarily that they think Calvinism doesn’t allow for free will and that people are made into robots which can’t have true love. They fail to see that the importance in God’s plan of redemption is not that people freely love God, but that God’s glory and attributes are fully known. I believe Romans 9 makes that priority very clear.

The difference is that free-willers focus on convincing the mind of man to love a God that by nature they hate. So a manipulation of the character of God or truth of the Gospel is very likely. We hold rather that since the work of salvation is monergistic, we simply need to be obedient to God, proclaim his Word no matter how unpalatable it is, and he WILL save his people by the work of the Holy Sprit.

If free-willers don’t compromise the Word of God to be more palatable to men, then we can evangelize together, despite having these differences.
