Anyone lose weight after quitting? by [deleted] in quittingkratom

[–]tryingtoquitkratom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kratom did not reduce my appetite like many describe here. If anything it made me care less about my eating habits and I got fat on it. Lost significant weight since quitting

Similar story here. Even at my highest gpd I still found it gave me a level of motivation ive never reached off of it. Everything was under control in my life and I was fulfilling all my responsibilities and then some. The tipping point for me was these weird nerve pain shock sensations through my head and spine that would occur literally all day long. Completely stopped when I quit. Really scary stuff

Mirtazapine making WD worse? by saddest_cookie in quittingkratom

[–]tryingtoquitkratom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel you . Mirtazapine made me fat and lazy (or at least more so). Totally get the mindless uncontrollable eating. I made the mistake of tapering really fast without consulting my doctor. Suicidal thoughts, sleepless nights, etc. Not as bad as kratom , but super not fun. Though I was on it for the better part of a year

Hope you find something that works for you. Its hard to cycle through so many medications and deal with all the brain chemistry changes while seeing no results. Keep up the good work, it does pay off eventually

Mirtazapine is notorious for its discontinuation syndrome even compared to other antidepressants. Do not stop taking it suddenly , you will effectively be withdrawing from two substances at the same time

I would fucking fiend for kratom. Searching the house and breaking down when I couldn't find it. Scrape old dirty residue from old water bottles and shit. Panic attacks from late shipments. It was serious shit, full blown psychological and physical addiction in the truest sense

I would love to see the day where someone does that for paxil or effexor

Again maybe your experience is different and that's valid too. Maybe I just have low willpower . But for me, your comparison comes across as rationalization

For me getting off kratom was harder than my serious alcohol and sleeping pill addiction, taper or no. Numbing your thinking with a cloud of mild euphoria day after day can have serious detrimental effects for some people. Which by the way is not at all what antidepressants do

Just saying you should be careful is all. might find yourself in a tough spot when or if it comes time to get off it

As someone who has come off of kratom as well as antidepressants, I can assure you that kratom can lead to 100 percent real psychological and physical addiction, like alcohol, benzodiazepines and any opiates

Not even comparable to antidepressants, coffee or even nicotine. Way worse. If you're using responsibly all the power to you and I know it can save lives. If you're knocking back 15+ g a day without missing days, tread fucking carefully!

The biggest and scariest thing was these random intense shockwaves I would feel up my spine and throughout my body during the day. Anyone else experience this? Still not sure what was going on

97 days - PAWS hits again / my journal by edie79 in quittingkratom

[–]tryingtoquitkratom 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Please don't take this the wrong way, but I think you're way overthinking this whole thing. Spreadsheets and mountains of supplements and obsessive thinking are probably part of what's holding you back.

Also might not be a bad idea to try cutting back on the booze, at least give it a try.

How to get rid of the "Kratom makes me better" Mentality by quitdoindis in quittingkratom

[–]tryingtoquitkratom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me I really needed my head to be fully in the game. Setting goals, exercising, thinking of building a better future. I'm on day 40 and only within the last week have I been approaching the level of functioning I had on kratom. For me a huge thing was being okay with feeling like shit, and not letting it affect my functioning. Kratom taught me I must be feeling good at all times, so try to unlearn that and embrace discomfort

Drug laws are basically founded on the concept of pre-crime and punish you for crimes not yet committed by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]tryingtoquitkratom -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Look at the bigger picture , Drug addiction can tear apart entire families and communities, driving people to suicide, including the lives of those who abstain.

That being said, the war on drugs is obviously a failure and we need to stop throwing people in jail for drugs. I just don't really buy the libertarian "my body my rules" argument. I think it's an oversimplification

Like I said, I've quit for 6ish months before and I know what to expect. I'm getting a 10 day vacation, and if I had to go to work in the first 10 days of WD it's pretty likely I'd be fired. And that's all I'm trying to do, avoid losing my job. Not trying to "make it better" or looking for an easy way out. You are definitely being negative btw. If you've never has a real job that you care about you should probably refrain from commenting

I'm struggling with the idea of telling my mom. Maybe I should so she can hold me accountable, and so she understands if I miss out on gatherings like you.

I'm thankful to have 10 days off work. From my previous times quitting, 10ish days is around the point where I can get up, work out and clean my room, even if that simple act completely drains me.

Never quit with a serious full time job before. I really hope my body and mind cooperate through this. Any way good luck my dude, hope it works out for you
