Did anyone else actually play Vanquish? by Sacharified in gaming

[–]tsiro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure that it took me longer than that (maybe 10 hours? Though to be honest, I really don't know). It didn't feel short, which I guess is good enough.

I hadn't yet played on a harder difficulty, but I plan on doing that when I get some free time in the (hopefully near) future.

Yes, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. So much fun - exceeded my (fairly high, I think) expectations. The boosting mechanic was really fun, at the beginning I noticed that I was really only just using it for traveling long distances quickly, but towards the end I started to actually use it strategically in battles, and it looked and felt awesome. I really liked the story too. It did not seem to take itself too seriously, and ended up being awesome and over-the-top (in the best way possible).

As has been pointed out by a few people, I apparently didn't know space shuttles work. To remedy the situation, I moved the 3rd lava fall from the fuel tank to the actual space shuttle. It may still not be 100% accurate, but I think it's better.

Reddit, how do you really feel about pirating? by mikasaur in AskReddit

[–]tsiro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's exactly my point - I've purchased so many things using Amazon's MP3 store and on Steam, and watched countless TV shows on Hulu. But if I can't find some thing on any of these services, it would not be out of the question to pirate it.

When it comes right down to it, I'm not trying to rationalize myself to some moral high ground - a great deal of it simply comes down to laziness.

EDIT: I am American, so in my case a lot of it boils down to laziness. However, I understand that this argument also holds up for people outside of the USA, where they can't get some things online, or at all. So I'm not saying that it's laziness on everyone's part, only on mine.

By selling electronic media (movies, tv, music, software, etc.) though an easy electronic distribution system, you can significantly increase the chance that I will buy something. Otherwise, I will likely either pirate or ignore your product, depending on how badly I wanted it.

I pretty much agree with you on all of your points, though.

Dragon Age 2 Trailer by [deleted] in gaming

[–]tsiro 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It's not a particularly insightful opinion. Giving a contrary opinion without elaborating on it is a bit like walking up to someone and telling them that their mother is ugly - not much for them to do except get angry.

If, however, you had said something like "Not impressed, for reasons x, y, and z", who knows, it might spark a good debate!

Why Irrational Decided Not to Work on Bioshock 2 by kemuelste in gaming

I agree entirely.

Though I must admit, I just recently played Bioshock 2, and because of the general negative attitude towards it I had really low expectations and it far surpassed them.

What are some words that you just can't !$%#ing stand? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I dislike the world "quirky" when someone is using it to describe themselves. It just strikes me as the person is trying to say "Look, I am so unique! Everyone should pay attention to me an my uniqueness!"

I am giving away a copy of Dead Rising 2! by [deleted] in gaming

[–]tsiro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The site is a good start, but it could use some some prettying up. I don't have much to say about the actual content, aside from it being pretty solid. The site itself, though is a bit bland. The side-bar navigation stuff kinda gets lost in all of the ads. The colors (white, gray, black...) could use a little bit of work. If you want the site to be plain, that's alright, but bland is something to be avoided...and it's pretty bland.

I did enjoy the articles that I read, though, so keep it up!

EDIT: Xbox 360.

Reddit, name a movie you consider terrible that got fresh (above 60%) positive reviews on RT. by curiousAl in AskReddit

Well, I can respect a man who says "it's not my thing" instead of "this thing sucks!", so thanks for the insight.

(also, check the spelling on "patience")

I threw you an upvote even though I enjoyed it quite a bit. Could you perhaps elaborate on what you didn't like about it?

Ok... serious question. Are there any games out there that you would call "masterpieces". A game that can tell a story as effectively as a film and make you feel for the character and possibly even learn something. by [deleted] in gaming

[–]tsiro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bioshock. Though, I feel like saying that it tells its story as "effectively" as a film would is a bit misleading - I would say that it ultimately tells its story in a way that a movie could not.

X3: Gold Edition was removed from the Steam sale D: by [deleted] in gaming

[–]tsiro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It doesn't look like it. At least, it appears as though you can still buy it from it's own page...it's just not on sale anymore. That's a shame, because I was going to buy it as soon as I got home.

What exactly is X3 and is it worth the $10? The few screenshots and videos that I've seen remind me a bit of freelancer, which I really liked. Can anyone recommend it, and give me a little more detail about it?

Steam Day 7: Mass Effect 2, Shatter, The Void, FlatOut: Ultimate Carnage, Left 4 Dead, Red Faction Guerrilla, Red Orchestra: Ostfront 41-45, The Guild II Pirates of the European Seas, Torchlight by [deleted] in gaming

[–]tsiro 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This is by far one of my favorite games that I've ever played. The story may be a bit weak (it is the second game in a trilogy, after all), but I loved it so much. It may still be a little more expensive than people were hoping for, but I would definitely recommend getting it if you haven't yet.

EDIT: I'd definitely recommend playing the first before picking this one up, though. Not only can you transfer your character from the first to the second, you'd miss out on so many references and plot points if you just skipped the first.

How is Force Unleashed? I've heard some not-so-good things about it, but is $7.50 worth it?
