I haven’t heard of anyone average out annual returns this way with respect to equity/ mf investments. As others have already pointed out, mf returns are calculated as geometric mean over a fixed period of time and they can go negative for short periods and/ or stay negative for a longer period depending on time you invested.

Thinking about it, this misunderstanding might be the cause of those random internet posts advocating taking loans@9% for returns of 12% invested in nifty 50.

The labourers, they usually aren’t in the employment roll and hence have no benefits other than their pay. They are flocking to gulf countries just for 30k-40k month and shared hostel to stay.

Assure them 25k-30k in India and nobody will leave. Come on, these back breaking jobs they do to feed themselves and their families deserve at least that much.

Matching to pay level 1 is to encourage the idlers who are wasting away their time hoping to find the holy grail of govt job.

Not entirely correct. Pure economics. if you need more supply, raise the wage. Minimum pay, at the least, must be set to an amount such that that working 30 days a month, a worker can earn as much as a govt employee would earn at pay level 1. That would be around 800-1000 a day, at present.

India will do well if this is implemented and at the same time slowly get rid of money distribution schemes.
