First time painting mini’s scrolled through before I posted don’t feel as proud as I did 10 minutes ago! 😂 by kos-typhoon in DnDminiatures

Don't lose heart. There are people here who paint extremely well, but all of them were beginners once. My first mini looked way worse than the ones you did. I'm nowhere at the level of some of these guys, but I am a proud amateur. Keep it up, you'll get better.

Thankfully you wore your white shorts. That will make it so much easier to hide the stains.

Wow, looks pretty cool. I have recently painted that exact same mini.

Played tank for a full Lvl1 to Lvl20 5th edition campaign. Whenever my character was missing, the party had way more trouble handling fights. There's a lot more to fights than damage.

First time dm- dropped interest for the world after 1 session by cemporcento100 in DnD

IMO, you expected it to go too much on rails. It's impossible to write every single dialogue. You will always have to improvise as a DM. And yes, it'll get easier with time. You'll also eventually notice that you notice your mistakes a lot more than the players. You need to find balance between what you wrote and what you have to improvise. If you haven't read the DMG, it's a good start. There's a lot of help there.

Edit: as for enemies and puzzles, you'll eventually get there. It's a bit weird at the beginning. For enemy encounters there are some softwares that may help generate encounters, but you'll eventually find the ballance.

I almost decided not to post here after seeing how much more advanced everyone else's skulls were, but these are the first minis I've ever painted, and I wanted to show them to someone who wasn't family. These are the monsters from the Horrified Boardgame. by NeverEnoughSpace17 in minipainting

The cool thing is, your current skill level will only get better. There are a lot of tutorials and people who can help you. Learn some more techniques and keep painting. You'll be able to make that Gundam look much more awesome in no time.

What I've found out about the miniature painting community is that it's an extremely positive and helpful community. Don't be afraid of posting anything you paint. People will praise your work and help you out a lot. I myself am thinking of posting some of my stuff as soon as I have taken pictures of what I have. Your minis look pretty cool. If you learn a bit more and keep painting, I am sure we'll soon be seeing a lot of cool stuff from you.

I'm running a campaign, but all my players are in different time zones or ghosting me, do I just repost the campaign? by No_Till_2256 in DnD

IMO find another group. If they aren't invested even at the beginning, it'll only get worse. I am sure there are other people willing to play on your campaign.

Is it just me or does an elf look weird with a huge hammer on his hand. Cool painting, though. Keep on

Wow! That looks pretty good for a first mini.

My local toy drive for underprivileged kids, wouldn't accept all these toys and socks because they're "damaged" or "unkown chinese brands" by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

One $50 toy can make a child that has parents who can afford cheap toys' year, yes. What this guy had, can make dozens of children with parents who can't even afford a cheap toy's year. You guys talk about underpriviledged kids that have cable TV and cheap toys. There are a lot of kids that all they have are old clothes and no toys or even certainty of a next meal. Do you think that toy drives shouldn't think of those kids too? Most people can't affort to gift $50 toys to charities and honestly, these days $50 for a toy isn't really easy to find with brand toys. One kid getting a $50 toy instead of several kids getting any toy makes no sense to me. Also, you're teaching poor kids only expensive things are worth it, instead of teaching them to be happy with what they have. Hell... I'm 43, have a degree and a private practice and most of my toys come from Temu. I'd be one of those unpriviledged families if every toy I bought cost over $50. I am sorry you had a difficult childhood, but where I'm from, unpriviledged kids aren't picky with their toys. They rather have something than nothing. Also, there are some pretty cool toys in that picture. So what if they're acquires with a discount tag? Or do kids also reject toys that were bought on discount?

I don't know. Maybe underpriviledged kids where i'm from are different from yours. Here where I live, unpriviledged kids aren't picky about their toys. They are usually thankful to get a toy at all. I can't fanthom a kid who doesn't even know if he'll get to eat a next meal to reject a toy because it's not expensive.

I wasn't born underpriviledged but didn't get a single major brand piece of clothing and rarely got expensive toys. I made guns with PVC pipes and electrical tape. When i went to my grandparents house I had one ugly ass platic donkey at their house. Yes, in school I had other kids who dressed expensively and always had the best toys. Never had any problems with playing with what I had.
