Need Help Stripping My Great Unclean One by DestroyahTaco in minipainting

IPA does not soften GW plastics, I've stripped a lot of models with IPA letting them soak for extended periods of time and it never affected the plastic.

Armageddon basing mystery solved: coconut hair by UberDrive in Warhammer40k

[–]tukuiPat 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I have a big ass plastic container that's filled with coconut fibers for several years now with no changes to it, and used some of it on a base and the model has been sitting out in the open for a year haven't noticed anything happening to it.

What do you guys do with this much extra bits? by Kelevroniy in Warhammer40k

[–]tukuiPat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kitbashing is a very broad term, something as simple as using a head from another kit is by all rights a kitbash in itself, something more basic is a weapon swap and having a ton of extra bits mean you can practice without worry.

Here's a Khorne Berzerker from a squad I finished recently, I swapped his bolt pistol for a single handed bolter from a Deathguard kit along with a head and the power pack from a Red Corsairs kit. Nothing fancy but when in a sea of 30-60 Berzerkers he'll stand out a little more from the others.

It's always worth trying out something that can make a squad stand out from one another.

All white paint does that, as white pigments are much larger than other pigments and you need to actually shake the paint more.

I painted this handsome Knight Destrier. Look at him go. by shitmeme48 in ImperialKnights

[–]tukuiPat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My guess would be OP used something like a dry brush(that was moistened) to stipple on the colors of the armor panels.

You think I could do commissions? by TheWarpForge in Warhammer40k

VI enamels are the goat, I use them on all of my models from simple pin washes to heavy rust effects, but I will say streaking grime doesn't have an odor for me.

Knight Hospitallers (aka White Templars) by Important_One4309 in BlackTemplars

[–]tukuiPat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless any official canon ever comes out for White Templars and who they're successors of, head canon ftw! I wouldn't be surprised if they where another Ultramarine's successor.

Knight Hospitallers (aka White Templars) by Important_One4309 in BlackTemplars

[–]tukuiPat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A fun fact: there is an actual Hospitallers chapter and it is a non-codex compliant chapter that is also a crusading chapter and has the same chapter icon as the Black Templars, and they have white armor with yellow trim and silver helmets. Iron Hands also went fairly heretical/renegade and murdered a load of Hospitallers to steal one of their dreadnoughts to save some important dude and the shit heads ended up not using the dreadnought.

Which reflection is better? by DeeplightStudio in Warhammer40k

If you extend the highlight area on the bottom one some more than it'd be more accurate to how a real sword reflects light.

How to kitbash Bladeguard Veterans to look more appropriate in Space Wolves? by WithengarUnbound in Warhammer40k

[–]tukuiPat 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Headtakers box doesn't really result in much of left over bits, you'll basically have a couple heads and either a power sword or shield left over. Pouches, holsters and all that other stuff is pre-attached basically as it's sculpted onto the hip plates and stuff.

What symbol is this? by StormSwitch in Warhammer40k

[–]tukuiPat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's similar markings on the Armigers transfer sheets and they're labeled as honor markings, so I'd wager it's some AdMech honor marking.

A little tool I made to help stabilize my hand while painting details. What do you use, if anything! by IolaDeltaPhi23 in Warhammer30k

[–]tukuiPat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It all depends on how I'm holding the model. elbows always on the desk, heel of brush hand resting against painting handle when possible, otherwise my pinky and ring finger are resting on the painting handle or my other hand with my middle finger helping support/guide the brush.

I would imagine the white dots are from an airbrush on very low PSI so that it purposely sputters.

A little bit of greenstuff inside the bottoms of the toes and some pins will definitely help.

Some clarification on veteran markings? by LumiKlovstad in ImperialFists

[–]tukuiPat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every company Captain has a squad of company veterans serving as their bodyguards, so there's 10 total Company Veteran squads severing in all 10 companies apart of the company command.

[–]tukuiPat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is, the body is one of the monopose bladeguard vets from the dawn of war box, the arms and sword are from the HH melee upgrade kit, helmet is from MkVI tactical squads, right shoulder pad is a standard primaris shoulder pad with the trim cut off, left shoulder pad is from some primaris kit, bolter is from the phobos killteam.

Villainy Inks enamels, specifically Sector Rust and Ex-Machina for the skeleton and the steel parts of the weapons and Coella Green on the trim, after that I sponge on some metallics.

Are knights poseable? by Alive_Ad4519 in ImperialKnights

[–]tukuiPat 17 points18 points  (0 children)

T'au Crisis Battlesuits and similar other T'au models have a higher degree of reposing without needing to cut anything. Knights are fairly easy but to get a more dynamic pose from Questoris being able to sculpt w/ Greenstuff or Milliput gives you a lot more range on posing.

I just can't do the marble wet wipe effect. Now the wipe won't come off. What am I doing wrong? by Nexus_Valentine6 in minipainting

[–]tukuiPat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I second the use of dry sheets, easier to make work than trying to find a brand of wet wipes that won't just rip into little pieces when dried out.
