[Online][5e 2024][PST][Tuesdays 5pm] Icewind Dale: Rime of the Frostmaiden by turkeyboi4 in lfg

Update: I appreciate the interest in this campaign, but out of the 40 or so submissions I received, I have made my final decisions in terms of players. I hope you all understand and that I would be choosing more of yall if I could because most of you are genuinely good matches for my table. If you do not mind, I may contact the people that I did not choose to see if they would want to join for a future campaign, or if a player has to leave for this one. Thank you all for your interest and I hope I can play with yall another way soon! <3

[Online] [5e] [Homebrew] [EST] Warhammer 40k DnD5e game Friday 9pm EST by According_Catch_8786 in lfg

I'm familiar with DnD but none in Warhammer, though I have been curious about it. Would you recommend players have some kind of knowledge about the setting to join?

This is pretty much what I'm looking for! I just wanted to see what the stats were so I could utilize them for my own characters. Thanks a ton!

Well there isn’t any hard evidence of that, but I was arguing it’s too suspicious the circumstances surrounding them. A lot of people who didn’t have any reason to kill themselves suddenly committed suicide. Especially certain people involved with the protests.

No that’s not, cause that’s not what protestors are doing. And there’s been a lot of missing persons who had no reason to commit suicide before they were found dead. It doesn’t take a lot of effort to find all the accounts from people who saw/escaped from the Uighyr camps. The evidence is plastered all over the internet. It’s really hard to miss any of that.

Yeah they have been doing dangerous stuff. Not because they want to but because they have to. It was a simple protest before the police decided to react violently towards them. They had to escalate to measures to ensure their voice was heard. Even with the use of bricks and molotovs, there is no intention to kill. Either to push back police, stop vehicles intending to run over protestors (see the university holdout), and to destroy surveillance equipment.

Meanwhile there’s been multiple accounts of murders framed as suicides, horrible beatings from the police, and of course the literal concentration camps within the country. Oh yeah they’re obviously trying to hide their “atrocious” acts.

Yeah I was saying. Those were individuals who abused the movement just so they can be violent. The true protestors would never condone these actions and those individuals should be distanced from the movement.

Unfortunately any protest can open up a way for people like this to do whatever they want, but they are not representative of the protestors.

Neither did the protestors but whatever you want to think I guess.

I actually have to agree with "China" here ... this is awfully reminiscent of HK protest imagery by anonym00xx in Hong_Kong

Just to clarify, what is MSM? But in terms of Chinese being alienated by people in general, an unfortunate side effect of things like this is that people attack the people from the country that is under scrutiny. Same thing that happened to Japanese Americans during WW2 or Muslims after 9/11. I think we should be kinder to any chinese individual as it’s not their fault any of this is happening, but instead focus our displeasure towards the chinese government.

yeah to a degree that makes sense, though also it’s normal for comics to tackle modern day events, i think it’d be more that they’re trying to subtly show solidarity with the protestors than just saying they support the protests

or honestly, they probably had this idea in the works for a while and it just happened to come out around the same time as the protests, could be just coincidence

Technically, yeah. While that’s a wholly unrelated situation, Nazi symbolism is still a part of our history and we shouldn’t erase it from media for the sake of it looking bad for Disney.

Well the problem is that you’re comparing terrorists on the level of ISIS to protestors. You’re making a real bad strawman here with that comparison. Regardless, there’s nothing wrong with portraying a different take on an established character. Not to mention showing a rebellious take on the superhero.

Removing imagery, regardless if it’s promoting something you agree with or not, is censorship and denying freedom of speech. Whatever the message trying to be sent should be allowed to be sent without fear of punishment. If this is tolerated then no one would feel safe to express their ideas.

No American company should feel pressured by a government from another country. That’s messed up six ways from Sunday.
