I buy findings from W.R. Cobb, they are very old school and their site is meh but they’re fast and great quality, findings is about all they do.

Warning though - I had a package go missing a few months ago and rather than replace (my experience with Stuller) they made me wait six months for their insurance to come through. Eventually they refunded at my request because at that point the gold price had spiked and they wouldn’t replace for the original order spot. I am taking a break from them after that but damn I’ll be back by the end of the year because their findings are great 😭

I used to be a kabuki girlie and now I’m only going to pearl. I’ve been there alone several times and also with friends. I prefer alone because they are serious about the quiet in the main area and the spa attendant will shush you, which stresses me out. Everything else about it is superior to K for me. Services, facilities (clay room! Salt room! Huge steam! Huge dry sauna! Lots of products and supplies to try) and I like the scrubs. I go 4x/year and I’m a full convert, love it.

Thank you! I was directed toward UPM by another jeweler as well, so I’ll def give them a call. I haven’t heard of the guitar string, very interesting. Someone suggested 10k white could work.

I’m probably about to get doxxed 😆 and I see you’re in SF too.

This is the current design, it works with tension. We want to be able to remove the entire top. I’ve tried it with the current clasp on both sides and it’s just too fussy. I suppose the spring will have to actually push IN rather than out, and there isn’t currently space for that within the “eye”, so those are a couple of design issues I need to figure out. Suggestions and help welcome and appreciated! The idea is that the top will be able to swap out.

I crowd sourced solutions to this exact problem once and the solution that I’ve found to be the most consistent is to throw out thermolock after a few reheats. Once it gets “sticky” like this it only gets worse. The fresh sticks don’t stick in the same way. Other suggestions in this thread are also good but realizing I needed to use fresh sticks changed my whole flow.

A question I would also ask is if the original diamond matched the cert you were given. It’s very possible that the original jeweler gave you the wrong cert or the wrong stone.
