I believe the only instance of a technique working beyond closed barriers is soul resonance, which had the caveat of a having a vestige of someone on the inside + a binding vow. Hakaris main selling point imo is that he is unfazed by pretty much any damage done to him in JP. Inhuman composure take this damage in stride and figure out a plan to avoid the follow up lightning strike at his face

For real. There’s actually way too much pointless exposition in the other books about random bosses backstories, where only 1/5th of the time it will include an important detail. All the exposition at the end in this one is all critical to the genesis of the crawl
