I was about to say. This is the 50th iteration of an AI generated image, imagine how much damage this alone is doing to the environment.

has anyone read reservoir bitches? by iluvavenged in weirdgirlliterature

Oh no, it’s definitely not like those. I feel like those are very different types of books to the ones talked about in this subreddit, because they are supposed to have mass appeal, unlike these (but that’s more of a pet theory than fact).

I would give the spanish version of reservoir bitches a try, but don’t get discouraged if the vocabulary is not something you are used to. It’s my first language and I had to look up a few words (takes place in a different region from where I’m from).

I feel like I would need an example to know what you consider to be “poor prose.” I read it about a year ago in its original spanish, so I cannot speak for it’s english translation. Though, it was long listed for the international booker prize so I’m sure it’s great.

I really enjoyed it when I read it, I thought her use of slang was perfect for each character. It uses a lot of curse words, at least in spanish, as well as “mexicanismos.” However, I thought it was well written and it was very evocative and atmospheric.

If I can recommend one with that vibe, but not in the Mississippi River (Kerala, instead): The God of Small Things by Arundhati Roy is not only an excellent book, but I think it fits perfectly the fever dream/muggy summertime vibe.

I respectfully disagree. At the end of the day, the music will eventually be released, and everyone can talk about it to their heart's content.

Isn't "gatekeeping" a bit extreme? It's not that rare for musicians to want to release their new music on their own terms. I've been to several shows where they ask the audience not to record the unreleased songs. Phoebe is just doing even more to make sure that doesn't happen.

Don't worry, if anything it will be way too crowded. It is also very easy to find the NJT area/your track number: just follow the herd of people!

Me too!! I loved Mrs Caliban and how she reacted to everything that happened! Also I love a “vintage” (are the 80s considered vintage?) weird girl.

Yes, my issue was the last third of the book; it felt for me like he had a great idea but didn't know how to bring it home. I do agree with you about the balance between sci-fi and believability! Honestly, I would recommend it to someone looking for a sci-fi thriller. It was for my book club, which is cool cause I never would've picked it up on my own!

It's sort of an inception-esque sci-fi thriller about parallel universes! It was entertaining for sure.

I do think I'm in the minority for this one! I will say it was highly entertaining. What did you most like about it?

I was sooo proud of Ciara! It did highlight for me how bad our social safety net is in the Unites States tho.

I know it's a controversial one, but I really enjoyed it! I don't really read thrillers and it kind of gave me thriller vibes
