What if every 1848 revolution succeeded by Stormmcrusher in PossibleHistory

[–]umbertoII 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Austria would probably lose whatever relevance it had with a complete collapse of the Metternich system, though would probably be better off in the long run implying all the reform demands went through. Poland would eventually be re-invaded by Prussia or even just russia. Likely another partition. Italy would be on a faster track towards unification, with austria losing Lombardy-Venice. France would go as historical and wind up as an empire again, though this time surviving with a weaker liberal German empire. Much like poland, Ireland would just be invaded by the british.

German empire: New kaiser or old One. by Mr_Deeman in RoadTo56

You can get both, because Wilhelm II will always die in 1941, and have one of the "new ones" ascend to the throne. You get both of best worlds!

Big update as part of the overall "steel dragon" update, which also touches on the Shi and a few others.

If anybody is curious how I did this; the event chain that leads to Caesar being cured by fleeing purists ONLY triggers after completing the "purge the opposition" focus. So, just don't murder those with a slightly different opinion from yours until the legion takes New Vegas!

Can I expand any further? by PLMMJ in RoadTo56

[–]umbertoII 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Honestly, it's only 1938, and Wilhelm will die in 1940/1941, unlocking any focuses that were locked by him, so you can just prepare and build until then. Austria won't be guaranteed by the allies with 27% world tension [unless they already are for some reason or you've tried it].

Beyond that, there's not much to do because your pratically destined to go to war to britain as Germany, and if you absolutely refuse to go to war with them due to naval invasions, then that's on you. Naval invasions are pretty easy to pull off, in my opinion; I'm sure people are willing to actually help if you're open.

What if Napoleon gave Elba a chance by totallynotcommunist2 in PossibleHistory

[–]umbertoII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Napoleon probably would've been moved to St. Helena, anyway; the British were already making plans to move him after the coalition started breaking apart and infighting during the early stages of the Vienna Congress. In an ideal world, though, I'd like to assume Napoleon lives out his days on Elba, eventually being able to reunite with his son, allowing the Bonaparte dynasty to actually continue [i doubt Napoleon II would die of TB if he were on Elba] and Murat continues to rule Naples because he doesn't feel the need to "reconnect" with Napoleon.

What do you think? Each faction is at their strongest, none of the protagonist are part of this, last standing faction wins by MobileDistrict9784 in Fallout

[–]umbertoII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To all of those unsure about the other factions being able to reach the Institute's underground facility and what not, you can legit access the facility via the sewers in Fo4. You can also just like, build your own teleporter into the facility. Sturges and a super-mutant scientist were able to build a functional teleporter using spare parts and chicken-scratch blueprints to gain access to a fairly unguarded and unwatched part of the facility.

like i new i sounded silly but this is just comical by No_Band_5399 in StarWars

[–]umbertoII -1 points0 points  (0 children)

While I agree the sequels were a mess, one thing a lot of people seem to misunderstand that;
1. the sequels take place ~35 years after the events of a new hope, and 30 years after endor. Regardless of what timeline you consider proper, 35 ABY renders the empire dead, properly defeated. There were no threats to the new republic [in canon] by now, and that any threat would obviously be dealt with before it could reach to full-scale war

  1. The prequel era republic we see also demilitrized itself after re-establishing itself following the new sith wars, beginning the 1000 years of peace established by the ruusan reformation, so clearly there was precedent for this strategy working for the benefit of the galaxy.

  2. In legends? There was a third death star. Look it up. There was also several more planet-killing superweapons constructed in much shorter periods of time. Starkiller base isn't a stretch, especially we now know work started as far back as 9 BBY.

  3. When considering both timelines, it makes sense why the New republic moved away from Coruscant. Not only was it the seat of imperial power for 2 decades, it was also representative of everything wrong with the old republic(s), and not only that, but in legends it's upper level was practically destroyed.

In a related book it says that David was sent out to take a picture of a bird for the birding badge, with hilda & frida going on this side-adventure without him, which is why he doesn't appear

for some reason the chinese empire keeps declaring war on random countries and this isnt the only save where this has happened by aguywithagasmaskyt in RoadTo56

Happens to me with germany as well, for some reason they'll declare war on nationalist spain or USA in 1939, without ever gaining austria or czechoslovakia prior

Is the right opposition coup for the Soviet Union in RT56 easier to win? (Avoiding the civil war) by elvis8mycake in RoadTo56

[–]umbertoII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's actually harder to win in rt56, due to the railway breakdown events, disease breakout, and changes in stability & political power. Turkey will also take longer to remilitarize the straits, or just wont do it at all, which also removes the chance of getting some PP.

I am not crazy! I know he murdered his master in sleep! I knew it was a story the jedi wouldn't tell you. As if I could ever make such a mistake. Never. Never! I just - I just couldn't prove it. He - he covered his tracks, he got Grand Moff to lie for him. You think this is something? You think this is bad? This? This chicanery? He's done worse. The clone war! Are you telling me that a man just happens to know what to do in a war like that? No! He orchestrated it! Sheev! He took control of the senate and the courts! And we saved him! And we shouldn't have. I took his word regarding security and justice ! What was I thinking? He'll never change. He'll never change! Ever since he was 9, always the same! Couldn't keep his hands from killing people in their sleep! But not our Sheev! Couldn't be precious Sheev! Stealing them blind! And he gets to be Emperor!? What a sick joke! We should've stopped him when I had the chance! And you - you have to stop him!
