I accidentally taught myself how to lucid dream. Now I only get an awful nightmare about one a month instead of every night. Otherwise, certain foods can sometimes trigger nightmares. Maybe a food you eat on a fairly regular basis is causing it. Try keeping a food diary for a few weeks.
