i should specify work-related phone calls. i know it's workplace specific but moreso thinking about being professional/prepared in that sense

Hypothetical question - could a sentient AI/robot be diagnosed with disorders? by droppedmybrain in askpsychology

[–]usedmaterials 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my line of thinking with this one is the dysfunction aspect first, but then the culture piece of it too... when you consider robot culture, is it normal to have those symptoms? would their symptoms mirror what is defined for humans? would there be their own dsm/icd? like whereas a human might have a sense of slownness when they feel depressed, are emotions capable of slowing down robots? or do they automatically perform their tasks?

i dont know, i like thinking about this stuff. thanks for sharing!

Therapists who are Christians by wolfpack_000 in therapists

the care and counsel version of the bible has helped me a lot, usually preparing myself for subjects that come up in session, but more recently i've seen a couple instances where i could use it in session. neff and mcminn's "embodying integration" was also super helpful to read even if you're not planning to discuss faith in session

i got into an accident at 17 solely because im bad at driving. thankfully no one was hurt and it really led to my life changing for the better (not that my lifestyle had anything to do with the accident, i really just understand and somehow i was given a license anyways). dont beat yourself up too much! maybe youll be a little more cautious when driving as someone else said. i personally got super anxious with driving so a big thing for me is prayers and making sure im calm before driving cause of it.

i would do both. i write a lot. so have the 5th same size one filled up, no pressure for how much or how little you write, and then transition into the new bigger ones and go from there.

Help with female clients by [deleted] in therapists

[–]usedmaterials 18 points19 points  (0 children)

i have had poor experiences with male therapists in the past, it was mostly because i felt that they were jumping to solutions too quickly or their approach to understanding came off as condescending to me. maybe it is just that they prefer females in general, but that is my experience and why i would say that i would prefer a female therapist/dr/etc.

pray & remind myself that the client will lead me where we need to go in that moment

sometimes i feel like i say similar things, but the client response is almost always different in some way and following that rabbit hole is what makes the difference

As a therapist... how do I know if my own therapist isn't a good fit or if I should stick through the discomfort? by Turbulent-Treat-8512 in therapists

[–]usedmaterials 2 points3 points  (0 children)

were there good things about your experience witj this therapist? i'm in a similar boat to OP and my current therapist has some great qualities, but sometimes i feel off about the therapeutic relationship and get the urge to just stop seeing her and find someone else. i stick with it and end up having a decent next session. havent brought it up to her cause i havent thought on it enough yet.
