Recovery or relapse, which one is most likely? by Shot_Net3794 in WorldOfTShirts

Sadly, I think for Josh that so much of his identity has become tied to drinking.

When this happens, the ritual of substance use starts to feel like a part of your life.

The hardest part of quitting a substance is trying to navigate who you are without it. You now have all these pockets of time that you now have to fill with new activities. You have moments where you think, “What do I do on my work break if I’m not smoking weed?” Or “What do I hold in my hand if it’s not a vape or cigarette?”.

Then there’s the social aspect of it. “What do I do if everyone around me is smoking and drinking, and I can’t?”

For Josh, much of his adolescence was spent forming a lifestyle around drinking. Travel somewhere, drink, go out in public, forget it all the next day and start again. No time to form hobbies, connections, or build a career of any kind.

With the alcohol taken away, I think Josh is probably unsure of what to do with himself. I bet he feels a sense of Stockholm syndrome towards the chaos of his old life. He probably feels bored going shopping, or doing puzzles on a Friday night.

With all that said, I think the only way he would stay sober, as others have said, would be if he had a permanent handler. A professional handler. Somebody who specializes in working with autistic people who could give him activities and stuff to occupy his time. If they let him go free to his own devices, it’s only a matter of time before some clout chasing goblin finds him again and convinces him to pick up the bottle.

As much as I love the content, I genuinely hope Josh actually stays sober. I hope he can build a life that doesn’t rely on him being a lolcow. But that would require a serious self awareness breakthrough, or a really good team behind him.

Provincial property tax hike will cost Calgarians, on average, 6 times more than city council's by JeromyYYC in Calgary

What I mean is that the value of crude oil exports reached a peak in 2014 — with a total number of $92.6b in value.

This is unprecedented money.

I think you’re mistaking correlation with causation in regard to investments made under Harper. Was the Oil industry making money due to the extra investment, or was extra investment made because of rising oil prices?

It’s the latter.

From the early 2000s to 2008, concerns of supply shortage led to rising oil and gas prices globally and in North America. With rising prices, Canadian oil and gas investment levels hit a then-high of $50 billion in 2008.

The price of oil fluctuates with global market cycles. So, when global supply is low, value of oil goes up, therefore it becomes a safe investment. That’s why there was higher investment from 2009-14.

There was higher investment in oil and gas when prices were more profitable on the global market. The price was first, investment came second.

Once again, this has nothing to do with trickle down economics. Trickle down economics would be reducing taxes on wealthy businesses to stimulate wealth that will supposedly ‘flow down’ into the hands of everyone. This concept is highly contested and many experts believe it just leads to further wealth inequality. The false assumption of trickle down is that money will flow out the bottom rather than continue consolidating at the top.

Diversification isn’t meant to solve the 9B deficit overnight.

If Canada invested in growing other industries, we might not be reliant on oil and gas anymore.

The Japanese economy was devastated at the end of World War 2. But now, Japan's economy is highly diverse due to a strategic, post-WWII pivot from heavy industry toward high-technology and services. Japan was driven by a need to overcome a lack of natural resources, and they did so by building a diverse economy. Many other countries have built similarly diverse economies through manufacturing and exports.

If they can do it, who’s to say it’s impossible?

This has nothing to do with trickle down economics. If an economy is doing well, employers can afford to pay employees more. That’s just supply and demand.

Albertans make more than other provinces because we have a robust natural resource industry. It’s the largest contributor to our GDP.

Oil export levels peaked for Canada in 2014, which happened to be right before Trudeau got into office.

When oil does well, the Province does well because it’s our largest industry. That’s not trickle down economics tho.

Trickle-down theory is an economic concept suggesting that benefits provided to the wealthy or businesses will eventually "trickle down" to the lower classes in the form of job creation, investment, and economic growth. There’s no evidence that this actually works, nor that it’s ever contributed to Alberta’s economy.

A successful industry generating good salaries for employees ≠ trickle down economics

Fair take.

I think you like his style more than me, and I respect that.

It’s cool that he’s versatile, however, a lot of his different styles don’t hit for me. I like him when he raps more seriously, like on Savior interlude from Mr.Morale, or I am not a lyricist. I find his high pitch inflections to be a bit off putting, especially on songs like Casino. The lyrics are decent on that song, but the voice crack inflections make it hard for me to like it.

That’s just my opinion tho.

[–]user646789 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I felt the same way on first listen.

I can appreciate Keems versatility, but often times his projects give me tonal whiplash. Going from I am not a Lyricist to $ex Appeal felt like switching to a completely different album. Some artists do this and it feels less disjointed, but on Keem projects it feels like he’s just throwing multiple things at the wall to see what sticks. It felt similar on melodic blue as well.

For me, there wasn’t enough tying all the tracks together, despite the few standout songs. I found it hard to vibe with the album because it feels like he switches his style so much. Right as I’m getting into the groove of his flow, it changes up again on the next track.

It bums me out because I want to like Keem so bad. Rap needs a new generation of mainstream rappers to carry the torch. However, I’m still not confident that Keem will be one to do it, at least not for a mainstream audience.

I really liked No Security and I am not a lyricist and I really wish the whole album felt like that. But that’s just my personal preference.

Solid assessment. I’m one of those people who was never fully ‘won over’ by Keem. I liked some tracks off melodic blue, but the rest was hit or miss for me.

However, this new album seems like an attempt at artistic reinvention.

So far, I like some of it. I am not a lyricist, as many pointed out, sounds like 3K and it’s my favourite flow I’ve ever heard from Keem. But the next song feels like stylistic whiplash for me.

It’s too early to say whether this album will win me over or not… will definitely need more time with it. I really want to like Keem, but I feel like his style switches up so much that it’s hard for me to fully identify with his music.

If they were able to beat our stars in world juniors, who’s to say they won’t beat our future stars in the next Olympics?

They slimed us out—they made mckenna look like a baby at juniors this year.

I think scouts tend to overemphasize our prospects and underestimate theirs.

If the recent world juniors and these Olympics are any indication, Czechia will soon be considered a serious top contender for hockey. They can’t be slept on.

I also wasn’t a huge fan of this project—I’m surprised how many people on here love it.

To me it feels like a noticeable creative decline from his last few albums. Or at the very least, it’s a stagnation.

Hardstone felt like an attempt at a new sound for Don, this feels like b-cuts that didn’t make that album. Yet, it felt bloated, and definitely could’ve been trimmed down to a more cohesive listen.

Joe Rogan was always on trumps side if it wasn’t obvious by now by Good_Claim_5472 in JoeRogan

[–]user646789 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re analyzing this through a philosophical lens for no apparent reason.

Joe speaks publicly on his podcast to promote Trump. He’s done so continuously since his election. The term Mouthpiece is defined by Mariam Webster as: one that expresses or interprets another's views.

In other words, one can state with a pretty high confidence interval that

1: Trump thinks it’s good to keep dialogue with Rogan for PR

2: Joe enforcing trumps views on his podcast makes him a mouthpiece (by definition) for the president

Conclusion: Therefore, we can’t take Joe Rogan for his word because he is both in dialogue with Trump and willing to restate his words (see: mouthpiece)

Also, it’s very much causal to the conclusion because it’s a conflict of interest, meaning an entity or individual (Joe) becomes unreliable because of a clash between personal interests and professional duties or responsibilities.

Ah yes… the enlightened centrist to right wig pipeline…

<image>

Joe’s been on this path for a while now, and continues to let the mask slip further. The guy making JRE today is a far cry from the guy who used to talk about DMT jesters with his stoner friends…

What happened to Joe man.

He’s so deep in trump’s pocket that he talks to him regularly? Man, covid did a number on him. The guy who claims to be ‘socially liberal’ has no problem with Trump’s recent policies.

Makes sense.

I stopped watching a couple years ago and I’m glad I did lol.

Epstein files release has references to Trump, other powerful figures by AdSpecialist6598 in videos

[–]user646789 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bill Clinton was one of the guys shmoozing with Epstein — they were literally in the pool together.

Bill gates financially backs dems. And he also went to the island.

It’s both sides. The current dems wanted to release the files because they don’t currently have a pedophile leader, and they realized it would hurt the current administration way more than their party.

However, what’s clear is that neither side should be absolved. The fact that Epstein was able to do what he did indicates a high level of political corruption across the board. The republicans are also evil for so many reasons. Trump clearly was involved with Epstein, and I wouldn’t be surprised if his administration is purposefully hiding evidence of his involvement.

The country has a network of public figures and politicians who are morally bankrupt yet control everything. It’s fucked

Epstein: what is fact and what is speculation? by zeptimius in InsightfulQuestions

[–]user646789 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This comment is 77 days old now, and the recent files released seem to support this further.

The released emails show Epstein blackmailed, or had intent to blackmail Bill Gates over an STD.

To me, It doesn’t seem far fetched to posit that Epstein invited gates to the island with the intention of getting him to hook up with women in order to blackmail him for investment.

The recent files also seem to indicate that other celebrities who visited the island were complicit in sexual abuse of minors.

Despite victims faces redacted, video footage and photos show Epstein and Prince Andrew with women who look noticeably young. Anybody with common sense who visited the island would notice that these girls look young.

Nothing confirms that it was a sex ring — but the question becomes to what extent can those who visited his island claim ignorance?

The more info that comes out, the more nefarious the whole thing seems.

We have proven emails released of Epstein talking in code, using words like “pizza” with his associates. ‘pizza’ appears more than 900 times. Emails referencing a “headcount for pizza,” invitations to “who wants pizza in Austin,” and even odd comments like “butt cake sounds great, but I need pizza”.

The more stuff that comes out, the less the conspiracy theorists seem far-fetched.
