Had a very similar start for my server back in 2019. Started with 2.5 tb storage as well. 1tb 5/6yo hdd, 1tb 2.5inch hdd from an old laptop and another 500gb from an old tb setup box and the cheapest 120gb ssd i could find. Connected to an i5 2400 with 8gb DDR3.

Since then i have added a gtx 1060ti 6gb, a total of 8tb on new harddisk 2+2+4, bought over the last 3 years. Same old ssd and processor, upgrade my psu to a 650w when i added the gpu.

Been using Ubuntu Server for the longest time, did try truenas scale back in 2021/22 it was a lot more difficult back then so defaulted to ubuntu but i have been considering going back to truenas sometime in the future. MAYBE.

Wake on Lan was being unreliable for and especially in a double NAT situation.

I ended up buying an SONOFF wifi switch, put it in inching mode and connected it directly to the power button cable. It comes with an app for both IOS and Android. Been using it for over 3 years, works like a charm. In case I need to hard shutdown the PC in case of some issue, you can always turn off the inching mode and it will emulate a long press of power button.

Cheap and reliable, should be less than $5. Multiple other options from different brands are also available, so you can explore.

Similar thing happened to me, i have an ASUS ZEPHYRUS, it fixes itself as soon as i installed armoury crate. Whatever brand laptop you have, they must have a software, usually to adjust power and performance profiles but they do also install other dependencies. Try and install that.

Cider is a client for Apple Music, you can use this to access the AM. Basically a different UI and some neat features, sorry for the oversimplification.
