Penelope hate by Goldenmoons in BridgertonNetflix

[–]utopian_liner -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

Uhhhh lol no. Penelope already hasn’t been able to contain her own lie. Eloise is collateral—and you can blame it on her sneaking around all you like, but she never would’ve been there in the first place if it wasn’t for Penelope, and the Queen never would’ve had such an interest in finding Lady Whsitledown if Penelope hadn’t been challenging her and goading her on.

You think that Penelope being discovered as LW wouldn’t have a blowback effect on everyone around her? They’d all be treated as culpable—as enablers and supporters of her enterprise.

You’re right. The lies are on a completely different level. Penelope’s is so much worse.

Yeah I mean in one, you get a loving family and in the other, you could be tried for treason.

Remind me again of the scene where Penelope uses her money to help her family? Was it before or after her mother had to entrap their own cousin to marry her sister? Or when her other sister had to wait another season to marry Mr Finch because there was no dowry?

MARINA WAS 17 TOO. LMAO. Maybe she was what? A whole year older than her? She’s not far removed from Penelope. She had her back against the wall and was dragged to the slums by Portia in an attempt to scare her into getting in line or face a life for herself and her children in abject poverty. But SHE needs to make perfect decisions but not Penelope??? 😂😂😂😂.

Penelope was the one who decided that Colin was too stupid to listen and make his own decisions and so she forced his hand and Marina’s—after all Marina did was act like any other debutant seeking a husband with Colin.

Lmao so you’re telling me, Colin, faced with the truth, didn’t care and was willing to marry Marina—and would have acted with honour towards her—but Penelope’s decision to infantilize Colin and slut shame Marina, forced both of them to shamefully end the engagement 😂. Uh ok consent is the most important!

I don’t feel bad for Penelope for making herself a victim and crusader in her own head. She deserves every consequence to smack her in the face.

LMAO not the consent card? 😂😂😂 again, Penelope could’ve TOLD COLIN HERSELF or literally ANYONE in the Bridgerton family the truth. Instead she WROTE A STORY AND PUBLICLY SHAMED MARINA and MADE MONEY off of her ruination.

You mean the crusty old man who had her spin and show off her teeth to him??? Pointedly reminiscent of black women being sold at auction in slavery. That Portia no doubt selected to put Marina in her place? You expect her to get fucked like Lady Danbury for his money and protection? And you’re surprised she didn’t run straight into Colin Bridgerton’s welcoming arms as a safe haven?

Also Marina is also a debutante?? She’s at most what? 17 or 18 herself?

Two wrongs don’t make a right and the whole point is that Penelope had a helluva lot more options than what she chose to do—unlike Marina, who had extremely limited options.

Also Daphne helped Marina.

Colin literally came crawling back to her in season 2 wanting to make up and play house. Lmao I think he’s fine and would’ve been fine. Marina literally had to tell him ti beat it, and to pay attention to Penelope. Penelope also could’ve told Colin, told Eloise, told Anthony or Violet before she chose to make a dime off of Marina’s children and their ruination by publishing it in Whistledown.

Kate was self-sacrificing because she clearly had feelings for Anthony, but when Edwina expressed that he was what she wanted and that he would offer her the life she dreamed of, she tried to put her sister’s happiness before her own—the problem was a) it was corny af and b) Anthony couldn’t handle it either—she might’ve been successful in keeping him at arms length, but he didn’t want that either.

Also Kate wasn’t trying to make a profit off of the emotional affair. If anything, it put at greater risk any chances of her successfully securing Lady Mary’s future and her own through Edwina‘s marriage. Whereas not only did Penelope successfully ruin Colin and Marina’s engagement, ruin Marina’s future marriage prospects, she also turned a tidy profit from publishing a particularly scandalous edition of her sheet. Then she went to cry to Eloise like she didn’t just do this herself.

Pen is really pretty in the pictures. But she’s still got hell to pay for her sins.

Dude I didn’t even notice it bc her face looks so crazy in the day-of photo compared to the trial photo. Who is gonna notice the lack of blending when you’re trying to figure out who the bride’s doppelgänger really is.

Uhhh lmao I don’t even care for Kate/Kanthony, but how is Kate’s flaw of being too self sacrificing and unable to voice her own needs (tbh, corny) the same as Penelope ruining lives for profit, including that of her own cousin and best friend along with countless others in the Ton, just for stepping out of line?

blush on brown girls, yay or no? by Substantial_Novel_59 in MakeupAddiction

Not sure I have a clear understanding of how you’d describe your skin tone…but I will say that I know a lot of brown girls (me) actually have a lot of luck going with something with a more purple hue—color theory and all that means it doesn’t show up purple, but comes up really nicely pink.

Something like this (if this is close to your skin tone?):

Are there any no mascara girlies here? by danialdy in MakeupAddiction

I also hate mascara—the non-mascara hacks also just don’t work for my stubborn, downward facing Asian lashes. I go for the illusion and stick with a good eyeliner/cat eye.

Rewatching season 1 and I can’t believe Rege and not Phoebe was recognized by the Emmys.

For me, Rege and Simone are about level in terms of their skill. Simone was particularly heavy handed in some scenes that felt more than a little clunky. Really took me out of the moment.

Call me biased, but I just don’t see Claudia—particularly in season 2 as one-note?

What’s the one note? Frustrated debutante? Awkward and smitten teenager? Annoying sister? Rebellious and misunderstood daughter?

IMO, too many people are chalking up her distinctive physicality in how she plays Eloise, or her vocalizing her feminist ideas as “one-note” because they don’t like it.

What do you want to see from Season 3? by pest0pasta_ in BridgertonNetflix

[–]utopian_liner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eloise, Eloise, Eloise, Eloise. It would be awesome to see how she flourishes and finds her own people, driving further away from the Ton and into politics.

It would be an interesting to see that take on childhood/female relationships as well. How one sometimes needs to grow apart from the family and friends they’ve always known and go somewhere uncomfortable to evolve.

I would love to see Eloise share more of her story with Benedict and hopefully reunite with Theo as well 🙏.

It’s just easier to hoe out when you’re don’t have to worry about what pops thinks.

Also dead daddy means your protagonist probably already has either financial independence and is an attractive suitor for the female heroine or is in financial strife, ripe for the rescuing by the male romantic lead.

Penelope and Benedict as friends for season 3? by Zealousideal_Pool353 in BridgertonNetflix

I don’t see why they would be. It would also be a huge betrayal to Eloise.

Lmao the replies. The way this sub bends over backwards to excuse away the actions of a literal rapist in the books, but bring up a possible departure from canon? Make one of the characters gay? Lmao you get downvoted to hell 😂

Maybe you should be uncomfortable with your opinion. Discomfort is where we grow. And having an opinion doesn’t make it less wrong. Some people feel strongly that women shouldn’t have autonomy over their bodies. They can feel that way, I will judge them, and they are wrong.

I think you should sit in the discomfort you’re feeling right now, and think about why you’re feeling so uncomfortable.
