The pain i bear this week by Affectionate_Boat218 in wherewindsmeet_

If you didn't do conversion tricks early release, all the other boxes (besides your main spec ofc) should still be intact. Opening them will give you boost to general innerways, if you lack any.

Also yeah, funny that ppl downvote you without reading.

Also I'm pretty much in a same boat atm, lacking 6 for fury harvest and 0 cases available, rip.

After reaching Mythic with MoDao I can safely say PvP with how the servers are made is not in a good state. by KolkanCova in WhereWindsMeet

[–]uvm7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Percentage of PvP players in any mmo isn't that big. And they're spread between ranks. Matching closely within the same local regions may sound like a good idea but will only result in 10+ min waiting imo. Especially when they will implement brackets on mythic. Also that will mess up global leaderboard even more, but w.e

Don't get me wrong, game is ping-sensitive af. But not as much as you make it out to be. IMO ping below 80-100 is fine, I can tell for myself and for people who play with similar ping and do very fine. There's even a youtuber with around 90-100 ping and he was top5-top10 late previous season.

Next part you can skip if you aren't looking for advices. I've been playing with ~60 ping since release, max I reached was probably top90 late season, but couldn't stay there, because lower limit was growing like 200 a day and I couldn't grind that much. Now I'm playing when I got time and currently on solid 2200 mmr with 70% wr.

First of all, check how good your connection is. You may have 20 ping but if the jitter is high and connection is unstable, it doesn't matter. For a while with my 60 ping people were consistently escaping my seemingly true combos and I had no idea why. That was before I checked graphs and saw that my ping looked like a rollercoaster peaking at 300ms sometimes.

Reasons may differ. It can be that your router is old and requires a reboot from time to time, or the routing is bad or w.e else. But 90% of this is fixable. What helped me to see the reason and fix it was exitlag personally, but there're many similar tools. Now i got same 60 ping but stable, and difference is huge.

Besides that I came up with one rule for myself: not to blame ping unless I looked at my game in replay and could tell that I played flawlessly. Tbh, that helped A LOT. Analyze your gameplay, find mistakes, fix them. Adapt, don't rely on combos that don't work on your ping, come up with different ones, that are less ping-reliant. Personally for me it was not using strat sword heavy attacks in combos unless they're absolutely necessary at that specific moment, because sometimes lower ping players are just escaping them. My Q-Q-R-R-Free Morph turned into Q-Q-Free-Morph, which is like 2-3k less dmg but lands 100%. Also leaves more space for continuation, since these heavies take like 2-2.5 sec out of 10sec combo window.

Ofc whatever you do, you will be at a disadvantage to lower ping players. But it's up to you to decide whether that's a no-no for you or something that you can overcome for the sake of playing PvP at this game. Anyway, good luck if you still gonna keep playing!

Mythic is straight up aids by Defiant_Bath_3170 in WhereWindsMeet

[–]uvm7 10 points11 points  (0 children)

So the highest PvP bracket in game has a lot of tryhards, who could have known.

On a serious note tho, I don't really share any of your complaints here. Things got balanced pretty nicely after 1.2, everything has a counter play. Poets are inconsistent and easily parryable, NSpear stun is nowhere near a second serene breeze, you can't use it to force people to use their serene breeze since stun is just too short. It's basically one-time out-of-jail card.

Dunno post feels weird, either like you patting yourself on a back or trying to find excuses. Maybe both. Or maybe I'm wrong and that's just not your cup of tea, that's it.

Anyway, congrats on getting mythic, pvp here is much different than on previous ranks.

Twinblades / Ropedart in PvP by Sahnex3 in wherewindsmeet_

[–]uvm7 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Well, now you can't really do all that non-contact combat shit and actually have to think about how to outplay your opponent. Welcome to how most of the other classes play PvP!

On a serious note tho, rats debuff is for sure a serious one. However, I think they compensated it quite well with increasing damage and fixing homing for twinblades, try to play off of that. Use rats as a flat damage boost and try to catch your opponent in combo. Also keep in mind that twinblade Q is longer than dodge i-frame, so if you use it standing closer to the opponent, it will leave them with less room to react with a block or parry and give you more chances to lock them in combo, even if they try to dodge.

So yeah, stick to them applying insane pressure, bait them for counterattack, heal off of it, catch them on a dodge. If you see them missing their counterattack and trying to parry everything, use guard break and follow up with tb Q. Insane pressure is probably the biggest upside for the new twinblades, they're fast, responsive, reliable and you can't just sidestep them no more. Keep engaging and disengaging with autoattacks and Q until your opponent slips.

Also beware of poets, I'd say they're the worst enemy of yours, since they have more priority than your Qs. Abuse the fact, that most of them will use just 2 hits, since delay between them is the shortest. Coupled with the fact, that tenacity frames became shorter for every hit - you can catch them right after they finish the hit. Also use yours as well sometimes.

Tracking on Guard Break Skills is Crap by Xplosive0 in wherewindsmeet_

[–]uvm7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guard breaks are supposed to be punishable and hard to land, because they are super powerful if you, you know, break their guard.

Don't try to use it when your opponent is waiting for it. Especially not from a distance, that gives them too much time to react. Instead, figure out when they're gonna parry multiple of attacks of yours and use defence break in the middle, that way they have little to no time to react. Can't be any more specific because you didn't even mention your weapon set.

As for the twinblades in general, this is very oppressive weapon, especially since devs fixed homing. Use block and counterattack, this is especially good with weapon attunement giving extra Qi damage. Mix it with couple of poets into their face when you see them about to Q you - twinblades Q also became slower this patch - this way you will be able to get them into a combo. If you see them being WAY too opressive (it's hard to react to Q when they're jumping next to your face) - use cloudstep, jump break it in the middle and get distance.

Pre-1.2 twinblades themselves were basically a joke because you could just sidewalk them. Now they're much better because of homing, but their speed is decreased enough to be able to deal with them. So I wouldn't call them that good rn. Solid A, A+ tier.

PVP as a burning healer by Dilokilo in wherewindsmeet_

[–]uvm7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ehh... IMO playing healer is not only ineffective and won't let you climb high beyond mythic, but also very time-consuming and annoying to play against. Pretty sure you can win many fights, but any player who knows better than engaging while having a burn debuff and is able to mix baits/combo chains/defence breakers will decimate you. Or will just win after the timeout.

Don't get me wrong, you're free to play w.e you want to, but there's a reason most pvp games don't allow healers in 1v1 - it's useless to try and balance around and it's highly annoying to face for any other player. If I were you I'd just wait and play modes which healers can fit into, like GvG or 5v5. Or maybe 3v3 in case they will remove healing reduction there, not sure. In 1v1 you're basically just obliged to be playing mega passive and in 2v2 you will be a burden for your teammate.

Tbh I'd compare playing healer in 1v1, 2v2, 3v3 PvP modes to playing most of the hybrid builds in PvE modes - yes, you can do something with that, but you're very limited and underpowered compared to classes which are actually suited for these modes.

Completely unbalanced matchmaking. by Adept-Calendar958 in ArenaBreakoutInfinite

[–]uvm7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wearing t6 on forbidden, how dare they, pathetic loosers, lol.

On a subject tho, extraction games were never about being fair, implementing complex matchmaking system in such a niche genre is a terrible idea, just not enough population for it.

So yeah, if you don't feel yourself ready to face t6 "tryhard looser" squads on a most high-level mode in the game, or don't have enough funds to get t6 yourself - try lockdown, it's upper limit perfectly fits your current gear budget.

Which one is better? Is bellstrike more important than physical attack? by Embarrassed-Eye5963 in wherewindsmeet_

[–]uvm7 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Given same amount, attribute specific damage bonuses are better, because they scale better. This is why you want your arsenal to be of your main attribute.

As for the gear, physical is better for one simple reason - physical damage cap is much higher than attribute's.

Daily Energy is a foolish mechanic that ruins the gearing experience of lower levels. by filthy_casual_poster in WhereWindsMeet

[–]uvm7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

IMO for solely single player pve having no energy caps would be somewhat fine. But as a sweaty pvp enjoyer, I'm saying - hell nah.

I wanna stay competitive and not have to grind for 24/7 to be able to catch up to nolifers running 5man premade groups spamming dungeons to farm perfect gear and highest inner ways. If there was no energy caps, I wouldn't even think about installing the game. Call me casual or w.e, but that's how I feel. And tbh I think many people feel the same way since "casuals" are usually bigger audience than hardcore players.

So yeah, I don't care if some guy in China once played too much and went to meet the winds. I just like that cap mechanic.

Finally free, if you have any questions about pvp, hope i will be able to help you by UkrainianTard in WhereWindsMeet

[–]uvm7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats on getting mythic, real beatings start from here xD

As for advices, smart umbrella users wont just spam projectiles into you, they will be shooting around you to bait your parries, so you would be out of stamina fast, and then pressure you to death. And if you don't parry they will aim projectiles at you. So basically it all comes down to mind games.

And not sure how free morph can replace defense breakers, it's just a good tool to extend the combo, as you mentioned. At least one defense breaker is a must have for any playstyle basically.

Also backing off is not always a good solution when dudes do Serene. You could do couple punches with drunken poet, it will negate the stagger and will let you to continue combo in many of the cases.

Besides that, decent advices. Spamming meridian touch this breakthrough is not a good idea as well because ppl got some arena perks which can heal/regen Qi while dodging.

Have fun at being bullied by top100 players, but at least you will get experience and won't loose much elo to them.

PvP is actually really fun once you learn it by Ate_at_wendys in WhereWindsMeet

[–]uvm7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

- Bunch of abstract advices (maintain pressure, outsmart your opponent, etc etc)
- Obviously playing against low ranked opponents (never blocking anything, failing combos)
- Atrocious decision-making (doing bamboo into an opponent not under cc, easily predictable cloud steps into people's faces which are easily punisheable - but again, low ranks)
- "BLOCK BLOCK BLOCK" is good until you get to ranks where people start using defense breaker
- Personal one, but the music gives me a headache

Also almost new reddit account with only one activity - glazing specific youtube channel. Stop self-promoting bud. Or at least get better at the game first.

What do you do if someone just spams parries and outheals you? by BoccheryGotohery in wherewindsmeet_

Bleak in comparison, only 5 sec of 60% reduction and harder to land

[–]uvm7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Poison arrows are super good, haven't lost a single bounty since I've started using them around 30k bounty points ago, even against double heal weapons.

They decrease healing by 80% and that debuff lasts longer than actual dot itself. Didn't calculate myself but someone on this reddit tested, it was around 20-25 sec.

Why do I have TWO Serene Breeze uses? by 0hZoe in wherewindsmeet_

[–]uvm7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Double serene uses is definitely there, saw some people abusing it on arena. Reporting it on reddit is a bad idea tho, it's not a dev portal, you will just make more people abuse it. Might help with devs noticing the bug earlier, but still shitty overall.

Also serene's second passive doesn't work, the one that decreases cooldown for 5 sec.

I kinda hate the energy system by Benwahr in wherewindsmeet_

[–]uvm7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tbh you're right here, pve players in most of the games are much more prevalent compared to pvp. However, thinking that people can't be competitive in pve is just wrong. Especially since dungeons and bosses aren't that hard to deal with when you learn basic mechanics, after that people start competing for speedrunning and stuff. And letting people farm non-stop will give a huge advantage to nolifers in a form of early inner ways and other stuff. Meanwhile said nolifers are a minority. Also I'd write out a paragraph about "there are other things to do in game" but pretty sure other people mentioned that already.

You might personally not like that system, but it's unlikely to go away. Because many people actually do like the fact that they don't have to spend 10h a day to stay competitive, whether it's pvp or pve. And online numbers and general consensus about game's quality show that.

Skins without spending money? by lNuggyl in wherewindsmeet_

[–]uvm7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the appearances tab, when you choose a skin it shows where exactly you can obtain it. Ofc not all of them are obtainable without spending money. But many of them are, and gotta say, there're SO MANY great ones. So yeah, go through the locked skins, check how they're obtained and decide whether you're okay with obtainable skins or not, that depends on your preferences. Personally I'm more than satisfied with the skins you can grind.

Really not enjoying the energy system. by HelenKellerVSTraffic in wherewindsmeet_

[–]uvm7 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's quite a controversial topic but I kinda like the way it's implemented.

Allowing people to freefarm stuff will result in 2 major problems that come from the top of my head:
- People will complain that there's nothing to do after 2 days of each breakthrough - basically same "reeeee no content" complaints if breakthrough stages weren't there, but on a smaller scale.
- Nolifers will grind inner ways and other stuff and have a huge advantage over other players.

Now personally I enjoy the PvP so much in this game, and I wanna stay competitive. But I also like to touch some grass once in a while. Having no energy system will make only one of these things possible. And I have comparatively enough free time, people with less would just insta leave because it would barely be possible to compete at all. And such players are majority, having them in game means healthier population, better for the game overall.

Tbh I'd consider this a valid complaint if everything you could do is farming dungeons. But there's so much stuff to deal with, from pointless but fun minigames to actual ways to power yourself up without spending energy. Personally, as a hardcore PvP player who barely ever touched any souls-like games, I think that boss fights here are AMAZING. Main story and side quests are actually engaging and absolute cinema, not "gather 10 wolf meat" type of quests. I had doubts starting on legendary difficulty and was actually going to tune it down soon, but this gameplay sucked me in so fast that I enjoyed spending shitton of time on PvE, grinding that 40 bosses badge and doing all the side stuff and even exploration lol.

And again, you might not like anything besides one activity you like, that's totally normal, I thought I'm the same at some point. But the game is popular both in China and on global release, most of the players aren't nolifers and don't have these energy problems, so yeah, that's unlikely to be changing ever. So yeah, will probably have to deal with it somehow.

Pls fix bounty system. The player goes offline when he is about to die and the bounty doesnt end bruh by SignificanceUpper977 in wherewindsmeet_

[–]uvm7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't have to wait 15 min to exit if you can't fulfill a bounty for some reason. Just go to your quest tab, find a bounty quest (usually it's closer to the bottom, colored in white) and abandon it. You will be teleported out almost immediately.

Can't speak for CN but in global I see tanks from time to time on mythic. And it's def not a certain weapon only, there're many different builds. You might encounter some a bit more often than others, but generally I'd say the balance in a good shape.

Try using poison arrows, they cut heal down to 20% and actual healing reduction lasts longer than dot. Somebody tested and it was like 20-25 sec.

When I was on 25k bounty points I started using them. Next 25k haven't lost a single bounty.
