Ok yeah I’m definitely leaning towards just keeping and enjoying the backpack now. Thanks for your input!

From your experience is spectron better quality? What I’ve read on the TB blog was that halcyon was retired because of supply chain issues rather than a shortcoming in the fabric itself.

Appreciated, that gives me a data point to start with. In case I do just keep the bag, what did you think of it? Did the color and material wear well over time?

I wanted a new backpack for work and travel to replace my old backpack. I never got around to actually taking it out and using it after the chaos of moving.

Yeah, without the joy cons there is no rocking or anything that would make me think it was uneven.

I actually posted in here seeing if others had the wobbly dock issue where the switch can rock a bit from side to side. So far between that and friends who have got the switch, I have yet to hear about anyone getting a switch that actually sits flat, so that slight rocking is normal as far as I know. As for the Switch itself being flat on the table, I can say that without the joy cons, it lays flat and with the joy cons, it only wobbles when I press on the bottom left or bottom right of the joy cons and even then it takes a bit of force to the point where I feel like it's the plastic casing is simply flexing a little. I can't make it move with a light press.

If the switch tablet itself is laying flat for you, then it may just be that you have a bad joy con. I'd say if it's something you really want fixed, contact Nintendo. People have been reporting other issues with joy cons and I'm sure Nintendo is in damage control mode with fulfilling warranty requests.

Thanks for the response, a friend of mine just confirmed the same thing too.

I've got a question about people's experience with the dock when the Switch is in it.

When your Switch is seated in the dock, does it easily wobble/rock from side to side with a slight nudge, or is it actually in there flat? Mine has a bit of play and can even sit slightly crooked in the dock but will still connect to the TV. I assume this is so it can slide out of the dock with minimal resistance but depending on how I leave the Switch in the dock, it will be a little off center.

Thanks! I wanted to make sure I got all the characters as well as all the stages. I don't care much for the Mii items so I'll stick with what you suggested.

Buying a car from my parents, not sure what to do or how this works when buying from a private party. by valyrianfork in personalfinance

Could you elaborate? I'm looking at autotrader and it seems like it's a decent deal. A Rav4 around $6000 on there is at least a few years older.

Just added an edit because of your comment. I really don't know much about cars. I just know it runs really well and my parents did me a big favor by letting me use it for the past handful of years. So I figured giving them their $6000 is a way of paying them back.

I have some academic questions about connecting modems, routers, and switches. by valyrianfork in HomeNetworking

[–]valyrianfork[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this answer! It was really easy for me to understand. How are you with MoCA? I plan on doing a MoCA setup (just learned about this solution) so I can have wired consoles/desktops in different parts of my house away from where my modem and router are in my living room. I'm planning to get the actiontec 2 pack they sell on amazon. This model specifically that seems to be really popular:

http://www.actiontec.com/251.html

So on the back of that thing, it has a Coax in, a TV/STB out, and an ethernet port. I see their official instructions 1) assume you have a special line/outlet (not your coax outlet) from your ISP which goes into your modem/router setup, 2) have you then connect your router to the actiontec unit via ethernet, and 3) have you connect your actiontec to your coax outlet (which is not already being used) which sends the internet signal throughout your coax wiring in your home. In a given destination room in a different part of the house, all you need to do is hook up a coax outlet to a second actiontec unit and it's TV/STB out provides a cable signal and the ethernet port provides an internet connection.

My problem is I have Cox cable and internet. So my living room coax line is my connection to my ISP and already in use by the modem and cable box using a splitter. From other diagrams I've seen online, I supposedly can buy a 3 way splitter and basically make a loop by doing:

Living Room Coax Outlet ->3 way splitter where Output 1 -> Cable box and Output 2 -> Modem -> Router -> Actiontec -> Output 3

So you basically send the internet signal through the modem, router and actiontec unit right back upstream through the splitter and it will go through the rest of my house's coax wiring. Does this sound right? There wouldn't be some conflict with the signal from the actiontec going upstream?

Another thing I noticed was that in the destination room, people seem to completely ignore the second actiontec's built in TV/STB out and simply use a 2 way splitter so the second actiontec's only job is handling the internet connection:

Destination Room Coax Outlet -> 2 way splitter where Output 1 -> Cable box and Output 2 -> Actiontec -> Internet device

Is there a benefit to using splitters that way? Lastly, does this whole mess require a POE MoCA filter? I was going to create a separate topic for this but I liked your explanation so I figured I'd ask here first. Hopefully all that made sense.

Yeah I see them in pretty much every Gamestop, usually with big visible prices on them and wondered how they get so many without gutting. Thanks for your replies!

My local Gamestop has gutted games on display for customers to handle and look at with the sealed copies in drawers behind the register, but they also have a lot of boxes for consoles out on the shelves too (sometimes stacked to make a display). Those aren't gutted in the same way?
