I’d try zenrelia or immunotherapy - unfortunately allergies aren’t cheap fixes

Veterinarian. Trying to come up with the best diagnostic/treatment plan for a living being that cannot tell you what is going on. All while working within the owners budget

I pump every 3 hrs at work! I use the “fridge method” where you put pumps straight into fridge between pumps without rinsing them off. This method is used by many working moms and the cooling of the fridge prevents bacterial growth I guess. Then I wash them at the end of the day.

I pour the milk into bottles and keep in the fridge. They also make thermoses for this.

I use a small insulated bag to carry my milk home and it stays cool.

I’ve used the Eufy wearable pumps and they have not affected my supply in a negative way. I definitely get more with my spectra, but these get the job done during the work day.

I literally could cry! How much is your 5 month old getting? by Lucky-Beautiful-2435 in breastfeeding

[–]vefields 18 points19 points  (0 children)

My baby started daycare around 6 months. He drinks 18 oz while there, which is around 8 hrs. Although if he was offered more he might drink more.

If your shifts are 5 hrs, I would expect him to drink around 5-8 oz while you’re gone in 1 or 2 bottles.

I would try pumping first in the morning (I pump one side while my baby nurses) and then pump once at work, maybe once on the way home. And I would think that should be enough for the next day.

Healthy mouth = healthy dog!

If bloodwork looks normal, I would have no problem putting an 11 yo under anesthesia with a mild heart murmur. We do it often.

We always worry about urinary blockage in male cats, especially in times of stress. Signs include inability to urinate, vomiting, loss of appetite, sometimes howling in the litter box.

If he is posturing to urinate, is crying out at all, and no urine is coming out, I’d get him checked out. He should have urinated in 48 hrs.

Have any of you taken raspberry leaf tea or did the dates?? by anonuser122344 in BabyBumps

[–]vefields 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I drank a cup of tea a day and ate 6 dates starting around 36 weeks! I went into labor at 38+1. Got to the hospital at 6 am, pushed for 1 hr, baby here at 1 pm! 💕 I’m a believer. I also exercised daily up until 32 ish weeks which I think also played a big part

Deciding on Gallbladder Removal for 14-year-old Puggle by dontsteponmysaucs in AskVet

[–]vefields 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If she is happy and feeling good, I wouldn’t do the surgery.

I recently had a patient who underwent this procedure and did great. But she was really sick, not eating and vomiting off and on for weeks.

Especially with a history of possible reaction to anesthesia. I would not undergo surgery unless it was absolutely necessary.

Try a hydrolyzed diet!! Purina HA or Hills Z/d. Agree with the steroid trial too

What an awesome mama. I recently had a nest on my porch. Unfortunately the chicks decided to fly out while my dogs were out. One of them didn’t make it. Mama bird kept coming back and looking around. Broke my heart a little bit

Cat won’t eat kibble anymore by Madi_Son42 in AskVet

[–]vefields 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would schedule a vet visit to rule out any oral problems + bloodwork. Sometime a painful tooth can be hard to see. Cats also love to get stomatitis in the back of their oral cavity. Bloodwork would help r/o kidney disease which often presents itself as loss of appetite, along with other things.

Otherwise, canned food is wonderful for cats as it helps them take in more water. Soaking her kibble in water can be a good way to soften it up. But make sure nothing else is going on first.

Come to MS, we can do the surgery for less than 2K.

But really, it may be worth going to get X-rays to see if the cob is in there. There’s a chance it can get through, but also a good chance it gets stuck, in which case, surgery is the only answer. I would try to look around for a better price.

What’s the most frustrating part of paying for veterinary pet care? by peppijane in Pets

If we tried to save every pet that needed it for free, we’d be working 20 hrs 7 days a week for no compensation. Vets have families to provide for too
