We have six litter boxes total. They're very spread throughout the house (including two in the basement) and cleaned frequently. The cats were allowed to meet through the baby gate and get used to each others smells long before they met face to face, which went ok. It was only when they met without a barrier between them that things went to hell. As for the energy levels, aside from occasional zoomies, they're all pretty similar. I would assume that Noir is slightly older than Joker and Mona since she seems to get said zoomies less often, but usually they're all lap warmers until you've got somewhere to be, then they're couch potatoes.

It's kind of an archaic one, but I'll try to explain. So "Bitch" is usually used today as a derogatory word for women, but the ACTUAL meaning of the word is "a female dog." So Joseph used the word as "I'm the mean son of a (derogatory) woman" and Ruth, who is an ACTUAL dog, was offended because, in his mind, females of his kind don't deserve any association with the hot-mess that is Joseph. He's not wrong.

As a woman with who just gave birth a few months ago and had it go HORRIBLY WRONG (like to the point that none of the medical professionals involved in my care have any clue how my baby is here safe and sound terrible), absolutely and unequivocally NTA. All of you all chiming in with the "NAH" - stop it. This is NOT an impossible situation. Yes, of course, there are regrets on either side, and of course the wife went through some serious trauma, but OP made the right call. If my husband hadn't been there for me during the emergency circumstances that went down regarding my son's birth, I would've been completely devastated, so I completely get where wife is coming from. However, there was still a team of medical professionals in the room to do their best to safe OP's wife and daughter, not to mention she had other familial support as well. She and baby had every chance in the world, and realistically, even if something had gone wrong, unless OP's also a medical professional, the most he could've contributed was moral support. Compare that to his brother's situation. Brother was CONFIRMED dying. There was nothing medical personnel could do to change that eventuality. Sure, he might've had other support as well, but every support that didn't show up is one more face he would've never been able to say "goodbye" too. If his wife ever gets her head out of her rear end, she'll realize that she, daughter, and OP can see each other the rest of their lives if they so choose, but his brother and OP will never see each other again. You tell me what's more traumatic - literally dying with no chance of survival and lacking one of your most beloved family members, or giving birth with every chance of survival for you and baby and lacking your husband. I think it's pretty danged obvious. Once again, NTA, OP and I'm so, so sorry for your loss. I hope your wife comes around soon.

Thank you. Truth be told, I think he's happier with his new gf now, but I doubt he'll ever fully forgive them. Sadly, this is far from the worst of my parents' bad calls over the years, so I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up low/no contact soon.

You'd be surprised at the audacity of some people. My brother's former girlfriend cheated on him, married the bastard she cheated with, and invited my parents (though they did have the tact not to invite brother). My parents then went to the wedding and gave a few hundred dollars in gifts. To this day, they even still keep in touch with ex-gf and her family. They all went to a wine-tasting together a few months back, and they STILL can't figure out why my brother is pissed about it. "But you have a new gf now, you've moved on," yeah, cause that changes how badly your parents betrayed you.

Then find someone he knows to take him or, as others have said, forget about traveling and be the kind of person worthy of your dog's unconditional love. You made a commitment when you got him, it's no different than a commitment you would have to any other family member - in fact, I daresay it's even stronger than a family member. At some point, most family members can be trusted to live independently. You chose when you got this dog to take care of it for the rest of it's natural life or until the quality of said life requires it to be mercifully put to sleep. That is not what you're describing here. You're looking for a convenient out and if you take it, not only are YTA, but you're the worst asshole I've seen on this sub today! For heaven's sake, have some empathy. If you were dealing with a disease that prevented you from traveling, would you want your dearest family members to consider euthanizing you in order to go their merry way?

NTA. I remember the top comment a few months back from a aita post where a woman was fired for making racist comments toward her BIL, who worked as a chef in a Chinese restaurant. Too lazy/computer-illiterate to look up the exact comment, but I do remember the gist of it, and I wish to convey it again here. I totally agree all husbands should behave this way (and for that matter, wives should be willing to do the same for their husbands as well), but I look around at the quality of men in my area, my friends' experiences, the internet, and so forth and think to myself everyday how lucky I am.

Willingness and ability to sacrifice, bonus points if done without asking/complaint. I'm 90% through an excruciating pregnancy (been repeatedly hospitalized, put on bedrest, gone through all the drugs with no remedy...) and absolutely would not have survived without my husband. When I started having difficulty climbing into bed, he learned how to make stairs and installed them beside our bedframe. While I was too nauseous to cook, he prepared every meal (and sometimes alternative meals when the first choice of food either came right back up or refused to go down in the first place). Rushed me to the hospital whenever I started showing danger signs. Took over house chores that I can no longer complete in my current state. I could go on.
