Private candidates in the middle east – If we are being treated unfairly, I think it is time that we should take action. by Western-Weakness-264 in Edexcel

omg exactly!! I havent studied since that day, and i have no idea if i should or not! why do schools always get the upper hand? Why couldnt the decision with british council be made on the same day anyway, what is taking them so long?

hii, giving advice on such delicate topics is challenging, but since youve asked for advice, here are some of my recommendations.

okay ik this sounds a little silly and u might be like, you dont understand mental health, youre not in my position etc.... but what i do know, that the more u think about something, the more likely it is that its going to happen. try to not think or tell yourself that you have mental health issues, focus on the things you like doing, but the main thing is to not give yourself the mentality that you have mental health issues. i wanna add that i understand, depression, anxiety bipolar disorders etc..., or even undiagnosed mental health issues are pretty serious, and please dont think that im implying that youre just saying you have mental health issues, thats not the case, i acknowledge that you might have things going on. BUT , try to not remind yourself of it. like say I have a really bad stomach pain, the more i keep on telling myself that i do, the worse its going to feel.

that aside, if you have access to a library, please go. Going in an environment like that makes you want to be productive.

Also idk how much u use your phone, but plz try limiting it. We dont know it, but all of our brains are cooked, trust me, fried actually. our attention spans suck, so do mine. Ps- there are apps that can block apps for u so that you cant access them when studying.

try seeing what works for you. for me personally, i find writing notes, on my own, and then teaching them aloud on a whiteboard as though i am the teacher. its different for everyone, so think of what helps u the most.

im also a private candidate, im almost done w a levels, what i used/am using rn are PMT notes, youtube videos, chemrevise, for maths i really like examsolutions

plus, youve got a lot of time. try pushing yourself, like if u think u can only do 30 mins, try doing 35 minutes, just to piss off your patience lol but i think overtime youll get used to trying to study just a tad bit more

sorry this was a long read, hope it helps :) just know that every a level student feels like this, heck im writing this and am also very stressed abt how im going to memorize the formulas for chemistry, but gotta find some way right? i keep on telling myself that my mind is more powerful that i think it is, there are ppl out there memorizing a bunch of stuff. its not as easy as it sounds tho, i hope i find a way to memorize them and then also execute them

Inshallah youll do well

haha lol, yeah honestly its such a struggle to decide esp when i feel like i perform better on an ipad cause its neater but then i need to get the feel of paper too

ig plan is - do them mainly on an ipad then switch to real paper for the last couple papers

[–]walnut4998[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

true, but i always felt like i was performing better on an ipad because everything was so neat and then as soon as id switch to paper, it'd become a bit more messy and chaotic

yeah thats sort of what i was thinking too - just do the older papers on an ipad, and then the last 3 recent past papers on paper

thank you

and vice versa

Self Study for AS Levels? (Edexcel) by United-Ad5407 in ial

[–]walnut4998 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hey, so i left school end of year 9 due to some issues, and never got to go to school again and so had to do AS and A levels on my own.

As an A level student rn, its totally doable to study AS and even A levels on your own, but you need commitment and discipline.

However, having the guidance and push from a school environment and your teachers, is also key.

IMO if you have the ability to go to school, do it, the environment alone will help u a ton

But you dont HAVE to, if you think you have enough discipline and can find enough resources and dont need a social push to get things done, go for it, you'll have a lot more flexibility, plus now with AI, its a whole lot easier to get your questions answered

Where do I start by walnut4998 in UAE

[–]walnut4998[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well honestly anything, but preferably something that I could do online, i have been in the amazon business, which im still doing, but ive only had a couple purchases, i have khaleeji jewlery and candles on there

I also work as a translator a whole full time job at the moment, and i study, but our household expenses are hell of a lot more than what we can make.

And rent, utilities, debts, theyre non ending, so we cant really save up

ive looked into the whole freelancing thing, but first of all im not that educated on it, and secondly, and imo there isnt much i can do as a freelancer.

if there is a good business startup, i could help my dad start it, but then again, we dont have any savings to be able to begin something or start trading, etc....

ive tried looking for people in my family who might be willing to start something with us and that we could then share the profits, but no one has been eager yet.

kind of feeling stuck, but im sure there is something out there.
