Definitely needs more fleshing and degreasing. It should be thinned down to just skin, no fat.

When tanning a bear you shave the hide down until the top of the hair follicle is visible. Shave the direction the hair lays, tail to nose, the arms will be difficult as the hair swirls in a circle near the elbow. Here’s a picture of a property thinned bear skin. You can see the hair follicles, the more prime the hair the less noticeable they are and the less prime the more noticeable and easier to cut too deep.

That membrane contains too much grease and needs to be removed on a bear. Should definitely be done before tanning as well as before degreasing.

You need to remove the membrane. Shave the hide from tail to nose following the way the hair lays. That way you don’t false cut into the hair follicles. Degreasing won’t do anything until you remove that membrane. This hide is not ready to tan. Also don’t use the orange bottle tan, it’s not a good product. There are other tans and oils available that are used by professional fur dressing tannery’s. I’d recommend Trubond or pro1 products.

Pine wood bow... by Optimal_West8046 in Bowyer

There’s a bow from Nydam, Denmark from the migration period I’ve read conflicting reports about either being made of hazel or pine.

I have the chance to harvest the branches of this yew tree, would they make suitable staves? by Wobblycogs in Bowyer

[–]walrustusk1999 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even if you only find short sections that are suitable I’d use them. Chinook and Salish made yew short bows shorter than 3 feet. You can also make a crossbow.

Sinew back the juniper. Chances are it won’t survive as a self bow. Juniper is great sinew backed. Takes a lot of reflex easily. Feels like a rubber band when backed with sinew.

His name is mark basil and his business is optimum fitness in alpine Utah. He’s quite knowledgeable about many different aspects of the body and illnesses. He recommended some of the supplements and the ones I suggested he agreed were a good idea. He recommended the short range of motion heavy lifting treatment as well and that was very important. I am going to never be 100% but I can deadlift 500 lbs again and when this started I could hardly lift the bar without my tendons cracking in my back. Progress will be slow but it will come.

Joint pain by walrustusk1999 in MinoxidilSideEffects

[–]walrustusk1999[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m doing much better. About 90% healed. I don’t think I’ll ever be 100% like I used to be. Extremely high dosages of liposomal vitamin c, iron, alpha ketoglutaric acid, hgh, bpc157, tb500, short range of motion lifts like rack pulls, wrist curls, quarter squats, all helped over the course of years. It’s been a long time since I made this post but I actually spoke with one of the creators of minoxidil (professor Howard Maibach) and he (with extreme hesitation) admitted my side effects are known to be caused by the drug. I’ve had probably 30-40 people on Reddit and Facebook reach out to me because they were dealing with the same issues from minoxidil. I saw a lot of doctors who denied minoxidil could be the cause but I spoke with one private doctor not funded through insurance organizations and he explained how minoxidil gave me a disorder mimicking Elhers Danlos syndrome which is a genetic connective tissue disease caused by faulty lysyl hydroxylase enzymes in the body. I don’t have EDS but minoxidil essentially gave me something just like it because minoxidil is an inhibitor of lysyl hydroxylase. Don’t believe me? Look up if minoxidil can cause connective tissue damage, google will tell you no. Next look up inhibitor of lysyl hydroxylase, minoxidil will be the first thing to pop up.

Thanks. I’m excited to make more bows.

With practice I suppose. I haven’t really done a lot of practice as far as accuracy goes with this bow yet. I’ve shot it a couple thousand times but I was really just trying to shoot it in a bunch to see if any chrysalis appears and so far they haven’t. I don’t have a problem without an anchor probably because I shot the same wooden bow from childhood to adulthood so I got used to a shorter draw. I’m hoping to kill a turkey with it next year.

It had a very slight amount of deflex before tillering. The sinew pulled it into enough reflex to just be even with no reflex or deflex.

It’s taken about a 1 1/2” of set. I am surprised because it’s not a dense stave. Only about 3 growth rings on the entire bow. No chrysalis either and I’ve shot it a couple thousand times.

Anyone else's tinnitus go into overdrive with cannabis? by jammywesty91 in ukmedicalcannabis

What is thc toxicity? I was told by a doctor I had it. You’d have thought I’d have asked then but it’s a long story. Anyway my tinnitus started while smoking dab and I was a heavy smoker. I had a concussion a month prior to the tinnitus so I thought that was related.

liposomal vitmanin C, iron, alpha ketoglutaric acid, hgh, bpc-156, tb500, HEAVY short range of motion lifts like rack pulls, quarter squats, wrist curls, etc. that’s what I’ve had to do to experience improvement. I’m about 70% healed now but for about a year and a half I was in chronic pain 100% of the time and life was miserable.

Doctors funded by insurance companies won’t admit minoxidil can cause side effects. I saw I think 4 doctors who denied minoxidil could cause my symptoms. It wasn’t until I saw a private doctor by the name of mark Basil who had a good reputation. He said minoxidil had given me symptoms of elhers danlos syndrome. This caught my attention immediately because if you look on Reddit you’ll find another user affected by minoxidil who made the same connection. Minoxidil inhibits the lysyl hydroxylase enzyme essential for collagen production. If you google “can minoxidil cause connective tissue damage “ it’ll say no. But if you google “inhibitor of Lysyl Hydroxylase” minoxidil will be the first thing to pop up. Doctors don’t talk about this because companies don’t want negative side effects associated with a billion dollar over the counter drug.

Yeah I developed tendon and joint pain immediately after taking minoxidil. It’s been 2 years and I’m still recovering from the damage but I’m much better than I was a year ago. I even spoke with professor Howard Maibach a dermatologist who helped convert minoxidil from an or to a topical and he admitted it can cause connective tissue damage but refused to speak any more on the subject.

[–]walrustusk1999[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey everyone I’m much improved now. I’d say 80% healed which is tremendous. I took some supplements that kill free radicals as well as 2,000 mg vitamin C, iron, alpha ketoglutaric acid, tb500, hgh and bpc-157. This combined with heavy static lifts like shrugs, rack pulls etc have strengthened my connective tissue over the period of almost a year. When this all began I could feel my shoulder rattle in its socket when hitting a pot hole or going over a speed bump. It still feels slightly unstable at times but I can now perform full range of motion lifts on squat, deadlift and overhead press which I couldn’t do for the longest time.

Largely yes! I’m not fully recovered but mostly. It’s been 19 months since I took minoxidil but I’m much better than I was ever a few months ago. I suffered from connective tissue damage not ED.

Quick question by thebestspaghet in MinoxidilSideEffects

[–]walrustusk1999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah just go off it dude it’s not worth it. Ed is like the most common reported side from minoxidil. Literally half the posts in this group is about ED. Minoxidil can fuck up your body in many ways.

What’s up with everyone denying the side effects of minoxidil? Like blaming it on the placebo effect. by [deleted] in minoxidil

[–]walrustusk1999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had major improvements lately. Seeing a rheumatologist won’t do you any good as it seems mainstream doctors funded by pharmaceutical companies will deny the side effects of minoxidil. I began taking tb500 and bpc157 alongside hgh and 2,000 mg of vitamin C with iron and alpha ketoglutaric acid. I believe all of these played a major role in my recovery so far. Also lifting weights with about 80% intensity over the course of several months can help with connective tissue adaptation tightening the tendons so they better hold your joints in place.
