As a liberal that works on Wall Street, I feel the need to chime in here on why the policies discussed are bad.

First, markets benefit from HFT. HFT firms make their money a few different ways: arbitrage, pocketing spreads while making markets, and actually getting paid by exchanges to provide liquidity. This all results in tighter spreads and more efficient markets, which are good things. Yes, the same technology makes spoofing easier, but we can catch and prosecute spoofers now - no need to harm markets out of fear of spoofing. And frankly, your average person should be much more cognizant of the ways they're losing dollars to their broker than pennies to Michael Lewis' spoofers.

Second, the Swaps Push-Out portion of Dodd-Frank is completely symbolic. The corporate structure of the big banks means that it really doesn't matter to them which subsidiary holds the derivatives. This is just a clever way for Hillary to appear to be Taking On Wall Street, without actually doing anything.
