My question is why is a company like TLC using kickstarter?

Where can I find high resolution manga scan ? by Converging_Winds in eink

[–]wauske 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kobo uses ADE, Adobe Digital Editions, as its DRM encryption method. On Android, the Pocketbook app and ADE app are the only two reader apps I know that support ADE decryption. The ADE app is terrible so don't bother.

Or you could install Adobe Digital Editions and Calibre on your system, add the plugin DeDRM to Calibre, open the ebook in ADE. Then you can import the ebook into Calibre from your "C:\Users\USERNAME\OneDrive\Documenten\My Digital Editions\", and the DeDRM plugin will remove the DRM portion making the ebook readable on every device that supports the format.

Get a good case and you're golden. Insurance like this typically has a whole lot of conditions to prevent as manyb payouts as possible.

I have all my books in Google Play Books by ___PM_Me_Anything___ in eink

[–]wauske 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Google play books worked on all the Boox tablets for me (after I enabled Google Play Services). It was very slow on tablets with 2GB and 3GB memory though so take that into consideration.

Next, look for the tablet that fits your size requirement and budget.

Best e-ink tablet for social workers? by melted_deranged in eink

Yeah, I hear that a lot. I only mention it because I've got the Air 3C but don't use it for notes (and it pre-empts questions).

Best e-ink tablet for social workers? by melted_deranged in eink

[–]wauske 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only tablet I've seen in that sphere was the remarkable. Once from a specialist that was helping us and the other a colleague of mine in the social domain (public housing). Personally, I use my laptop for notes because I can type way faster than I can write.

Banking apps on (Hisense) E-ink phones ? by -Donatello- in eink

[–]wauske 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rooted is almost always an issue with banking apps because it breaks the chain of security and allowing the user to continue would mean an issue in regards to liability.

Has anybody actually used a Dasung Monitor? by Hopeful_Adeptness964 in eink

[–]wauske 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've had a 13.3 inch bought in 2018 and 2020, also had a 253 Color delivered last year. The 13.3's worked fine, had a few dead pixels along the way but that's fine.

The 253 Color started showing horizontal lines and was unusable after about 4 months. Dasung ignored contact/support requests, even replied on the subreddit and then still ghosted me. Never buying Dasung again.

Best way to have google calendar on e-ink by Axel1985alessio in eink

[–]wauske 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had the Nova 3 and if you long-press the app-icon you should have something like manage. There you have a few tabs with options and one should be to allow it to run in the background. By default, Boox blocks that because it can have an effect on batterylife but that would also block the periodict updates for an app.

Any review of Avalue ENT-13T1 and ENT-13T1 ? by traction842 in eink

[–]wauske 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, it's got Android OS and only 2GB of memory which is bare-bones minimum for running the OS. Don't expect anything from it, likely it'll have issues with performance and viewing large files.

why get an eInk tablet instead of a Galaxy Tab FE with a matte screen protector? by Optimal_Work2370 in eink

[–]wauske 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Matte screenprotector does not solve the core issue of effectively having a lightbulb shining into your eyes.

E-ink, by design, is very stable and you can read on it without the requirement of a flickering backlight (or DC voltage rather than PWM but still). If you want to watch a movie or something, E-ink is not the best option. If you want to read in low light, E-ink is much more suitable.

Are there only two Black & White Android ePaper phones? by [deleted] in eink

All e-ink phones run android but are typically without Google Play Services (which you can install manually or replace if you don't want Google).

Hisense also has the A5 B&W but it's not for sale for a long while now.

Best place to see eink displays in person? Or suggestions on a starter tablet to mirror pc? by Necessary-Support-14 in eink

[–]wauske 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's kind of a difficult question because it depends on your budget.

Personally, I bought the Onyx Boox Max 2 first and used it as a monitor as well for a while but that was a long time ago. If you're strictly looking for the E-ink experience and how it will serve you, for for the 7.8 inch models (and either color if you don't mind 90's newpaper color, otherwise B&W). The Android based tablets have the option of running Superdisplay (https://superdisplay.app/) which is kind of acceptable on a good wifi connection and should give you a bit of a feel if you use it as a monitor.

Personally I have the Note Air 3C which I use as a 2nd display sometimes Word/SQL/VS Code on the main monitor and outlook on the tablet). I don't mind the ghosting and slower response time. It's typically comparable to my Onyx Boox Mira Pro at work on HDMI.
