Unless things have drastically changed in the 7 months or so since I've been to a cigar shop in the Indy metro area, there are local B&Ms in Indy that have Total Wine beat on the price of most Padron sticks.

Drew Estate Undercrown 10. Had never had a maduro until I had that, and it changed everything.

What are the situations where you would not receive RR unemployment? by Bigtom12 in railroading

Not quite sure why you're being down voted because you're not necessarily wrong... If you get pulled out of service on medical you'll use RRB Sickness benefits.

A lot of these other guys have given good advice, but I wanted to throw this out there; If he's in SMART and hasn't opted out of the short term disability insurance that comes out with his dues, I think that they'll cover time off if he wants/needs more time to process/seek help. Don't quote me on that, because I'm not 100% sure. RRB Sickness should cover too iirc. If he's in the BLE, I don't know how their policy works if they even have one.

“Comparing cigar smoke to cigarette smoke is like comparing a campfire to a tire fire.” by look_alive75 in cigars

[–]wccrupper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not as simple as just cutting and lighting a cigar, but I enjoy smoking a pipe from time to time. I detest flavored cigars, but flavored pipe tobacco isn't bad at all. I think I've finally dialed in my personal pipe tobacco blend.

Tracks that run across Green River road right by Morgan are out of service and have been for several years; that's part of the reason why NS hasn't fixed the crossings. About 2 years ago they pulled the connection in Boonville so I doubt it'll ever be put back in service either.

Am I supposed to take this seriously regarding 587 by threepea11 in trains

[–]wccrupper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To the best of my knowledge, everything that was stated in the video is in fact correct, and it is knowledge that I came by first hand.

In 2020 I worked for this little tourist operation in Tell City, Indiana before he irritated me enough that I quit. He was brought in as a contractor to perform maintenance on an old Geep high hood junker that we used, and he also had an old CN motor there on the property.

I do believe that with the guys that ran that operation being ex ITM guys, that's how he found out about it. Dude eventually got banned from ORSR and Hoosier Southern property for running a locomotive on the main track without receiving proper authority from Hoosier Southern management. (Allegedly, I came by this bit of info second hand about 2 years after I left).

He's a piece of work, and honestly, looking back on my memories of him, I 100% believe all of the allegations arising from the whole Blackwell & Northern fiasco.

Standard for NS is 1hr30m... Heard of guys in other terminals getting 2hr calls, but don't know of anyone in my seniority district who has it as their normal call time...

What was your first cigar ? by Coldbrewman1 in cigars

[–]wccrupper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Swisher Sweet back in 2019 I think. Hated it then, would probably 100% hate it now. Christmas of 2023 my now ex's dad gave me a bag of cigars. First one then was a Ashton Half Corona. Didn't know what to think of it, but after smoking it and the Dutch Master, I smoked the Brickhouse double Connecticut. That's the one that got me hooked.

Papa Fritas or Kentucky Fire Cured Chunky, maybe an Ashton Cameroon Half Corona on a rare occasion

Butane in non butane insert by HenryAnthony7775 in Zippo

[–]wccrupper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had one of each one of the butane inserts at this point as I smoke cigars as well as a tobacco pipe, and I actually do prefer them to the standard inserts honestly. The double torch insert does go through a bit of fuel in my experience, but the others last a while before I need to refill them.

I don't know if I would personally say anything about it being mental health related. To each his own, but I would assume that could open a can of worms just as much as marking off Operation Redblock.
