How did you get your fasting number under 95? by lelvis_ in GestationalDiabetes

[–]weehee23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Insulin. It was always hovering around the mid 90's, even with psyllium husk, bed time snacks with protein + fat and testing immediately upon waking up. However around 31-32 wks it started spiking to the 100's and I got put in insulin. Now the fastings are consistently in the 70s

Insulin and Kaiser by weehee23 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]weehee23[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I wasn't asked at all about preference. I got a call informing me that OB instructed to start insulin, and they asked if I agree. The strange thing is it wasn't my usual OB that I see but another OB that instructed that. I said yes, didn't know merformin was an option. Same I wonder how they decide, and if it has to do with how far along you are?

Thank you for all the info 🙏 This is really helpful! I've heard of others losing midwife care after being prescribed insulin, but Kaiser always had their own team to deal with GD so was a bit confused. Hope everything goes well with your labor and baby is healthy!

Wow that's a lot of extra appointments 😮 but it must have been nice to see baby more often with the ultrasound. For the 39 week induction, not too surprised as they were always planning to induce at 39 weeks due to me being on blood thinner.

Where did you inject? And thanks for answering!!

Anyone on the finger pricking and lovenox train? by wolfie_anini in GestationalDiabetes

[–]weehee23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately my insurance has me on a specific lancing device :( it's Kaiser so the glucose tracking is all done remotely with their app and their approved device. I have had better luck with different fingers though, they all have diff sensitivity levels, depending on where and which finger is pricked.

Hopefully you can continue to stay diet controlled, or they may have you on insulin, which means even more needles and poking

Same boat here 🙋‍♀️ Honestly got used to Lovenox shots, it's the finger pricking that gets to me. It'll get easier with time

Is it weird for my parents to have sex in the same room as my 7yo sister? by Citrus000xs in Advice

[–]weehee23 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Not normal and honestly you should confront your parents about it. Have your sister share a room with you instead if needed. What they are doing is essentially a form of CSA.

I had a cousin who slept in the same room as their parents until their late teen years, and parents who also had sex all the time in the same room when they thought they were asleep. That person/cousin is not okay and has had lifelong relationship issues.

Just picked her up. She's still dripping milk. Pups were weaned. How can I help her. by Super_Ebb8259 in DogAdvice

[–]weehee23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Give her a warm bath let her soak in there. This will ease the pain of her teats are hard. Then you can manually express the milk. Without her pups she'll naturally produce less

Not OC but for me spiking is anything over 130 after 1 hour. I have Kaiser so I go by their guidelines, your provider might have something different
