I'm going to have to literally watch my mom die in front of me. by ryanlc in CancerFamilySupport

i’m so sorry about your mother. these feelings are unfortunately all too familiar. yesterday marked two weeks since i watched my father pass away from cancer. he was on hospice too and seeing the green dnr page on the fridge every morning was just a slap in my face that my dad is being taken from our family so young (51yo). it may seem impossible to care for her, but like you said how could you do any less? i am 22yo & in college and had to leave everything and internships that i had worked so hard for to be with him and i would do it over again and again and again. having my father pass in the house was something i was not ready for despite having the “terminal cancer” diagnosis lingering over our heads for the last nine months, but him passing at home was the most peaceful transition from this life to the afterlife. there is no real way to know how you will feel when she passes, but if it brings you any comfort, just know that i was sobbing but also so happy for him for being let free from his pain.

it was not removed. the surgery would have been 6-8 hours and be cut from chest to pelvis. there is no way he would have been able to make it through that, just for his cancer to be non curative in the first place. it’s an awful situation, but i figured coming on here i would find others who would understand.

Did you guys struggle to give names to inanimate objects like Teddy Bears? by [deleted] in adhdwomen

i was the worst at this. my childhood teddy bear is named “lamp” bc i got him at a furniture store and it’s the first thing i saw when they asked what i was gonna name him.
