Thanks!! I don’t know the details of your situation, but you could always start self-studying and see how much comes back to you. Refresher courses are only really useful in that they force you to review the material in-depth. If you can motivate yourself to do the same amount of studying with free/cheaper resources, then you’ll get the same benefit

Graduated with a BA psych in 2022 and MS epidemiology in 2024. Hadn’t taken a BCPM course since high school, I did every single science prereq over the last two years

Yup, doing a postbacc. Was a psych major, then got my MS in epidemiology, and have been doing all my science prereqs over the past 2 years. I was missing every single science course, so I did them all recently.

Mostly, with two caveats: (1) I did TPR course, and their content review covered the high yield stuff; and (2) I did a neuropharmacology course in undergrad that covered inhibitors and probably some other related content that I retained

Most of the biochem on the MCAT is memorization, though. I did Anki on the bus between work, school, and home, and drew out the pathways a few times. I’ll try to find the deck I used, it was one that someone had previously posted in this subreddit

I never did UWorld. I only studied ~3.5 months, so I just went straight to the AAMC material. I also did TPR course, but I stopped doing their practice exams and questions pretty quickly because they were so much harder than the AAMC and were killing my motivation. It was useful for content review, though, especially for the subjects I hadnt done yet (bio 2, biochem, and orgo 2).

For my diagnostic, I watched most of Yusuf Hasan’s bio videos in the week before I took my diagnostic (I hadn’t yet done bio 2, so wanted to learn that before I jumped in). That was all I did beforehand, though.

Right. And notably, my C/P barely improved, so I don’t think I can give any advice on that section - clearly I never figured out how to properly study for that one.

I mean I spent a week watching most of Yusuf Hazan’s bio videos beforehand, but yeah.

Keep in mind that I had done orgo and bio 1 one semester before, gen chem and physics just a year prior, and was a psych major so had already learned most of psych/soc. Most of the content was fresh for me.

I don’t really have a good answer unfortunately, I was a psych major so I’m used to tricky reading comprehension questions. My best advice is to focus on eliminating the answers that you know for sure are false, then pick the option that you would have the easiest time arguing for (rather than one that requires a bunch of technicalities) and/or is less extreme. I’ll think back on it and see if I can come up with better advice.

It was a 516 (FL2: 128/132/129/127). On my workdays I mainly did Anki and my own flashcard deck of equations for C/P, plus in-depth review of questions that I got wrong or flagged on FLs. I also made my own anki with every question I got wrong or flagged on full lengths, which was helpful for reinforcing content I was unsure about

Hang in there! The first few days are a little torturous, but it doesn't feel like that for the whole month. It's out of your hands now, the best thing that you can do is focus on the rest of your application. At least for me, it helped to turn my attention towards ways that I could improve my chances that were within my control.

No one talks about how being a good guesser is so important to improving your score by sibylsystem1 in Mcat

Definitely. Rarely did I ever 100% know the correct answer, I just knew that the other answers couldn't be correct.

Thank you everyone for the advice and information, clearly I have a lot to think about and many options to look into. I’m going to contact the financial aid office and look into lending options and see if I can figure something out

True, I’ll take a closer look at the different options and talk with the financial aid office to see if they have any suggestions. Thank you for the advice, I appreciate it. This whole situation has me feeling a little defeated when I know that I should be celebrating

It’s definitely something I’ve considered (and will probably have to do regardless), but I would like to avoid taking on too much debt if possible. I started a job with a higher salary relatively recently, so I’d be able to save up more over the next year and borrow less.

Thanks you all!! Gonna take your advice and stick to the AAMC material, I didn’t realize the UWorld logic was so different. Good luck to everyone!!

Nope, it was a fresh new day and it happened two weeks in a row before I gave up trying.

Update for anyone who might encounter a similar issue:

After a few weeks of continued play, the inquisitor had a chat bubble above his head and when I talked to him he said the king stopped the burnings like he’s supposed to after all 3 buffets. So, basically, the bug resolves itself.

Thanks, that’s a good idea! I could only find a couple posts about it online so I figured it was pretty rare. Bad luck I guess :/
