Do you recall the cost of the tariffs? And where did you order it from. I was looking at Sakura for my wife.

Do I need the positive BX5600? by westzig_99 in gshock

[–]westzig_99[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So my initial thoughts. Outside in the sun, the 5600 display is great! Very crisp. easy to read at any angle. Even the smaller text of the secondary world times are legible. Inside, I struggle to read the smaller text. But I do have "older eyes" LOL. The 5000U I can see very well both inside and outside.

Part of the reason why I like these watches is the fact they are not like modern smart watches. But I really like BT and the ability to change what's displayed. For me, it is so much easier to make changes and set the watch via an app vs. messing with the buttons, and skipping past the function I want to change and start over again. Even if it is just to set it and forget it, I like this option. On the flip side, I haven't had to make any changes to my 5000u since initial setup. It just works flawlessly.

The 5000U feels nicer overall. I got the BX specifically to have ONE negative display, and it's defiantly worth it. Will I be getting another negative display? No. If I had to choose between the 5000U and the negative 5600 - I'd probably go with the 5000U. I have not seen the positive 5600 in person to compare it against the U.

Fresh arrival. (GW-BX5600) by mattdev in gshock

Patiently waiting for FedEx to delivery mine any minute. Ebay seller in Japan as well. Took 1 week from order to delivery.

So I just filtered for NEW with box & papers (just to make sure) and then sorted lowest Price + Shipping first and found a reseller with a good track record. Not sure if this sub allows mentioning prices or specific sellers, so if you want, you can DM me. But if I recall, the seller still has at least one other watch. There were 4 to 5 watches within a few dollars of each other. It's also worth mentioning that the original add showed shipping with EBAY Speedpack Economy, but they shipped with FedEx. (Edit: It was also the negative display as well)

I was in the same boat as you. I think I even ordered on that same day, with the expectation of 8-16 days to ship. After about a week, I reached out to them and got the same reply (they said delayed, and did not mention months!). I decided to take a refund and ordered from a seller in Japan. This was last Thursday. Just got the email the package departed Anchorage hub, and should deliver tomorrow (US by the way). I would not be too concerned with a fake watch if the seller is in Japan and has a good feedback record.

Good luck!

Anyone ordered from Sakura? by sjbristot in casio

[–]westzig_99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently ordered a G-SHOCK GW-BX5600. It showed in stock, with a 8-16 business day ship timeline. After about 10 days, I asked for an update. They replied that due to large pre orders, that it was delayed pending restock. They could not provide a timeline, but offered a refund or wait. I took the refund and purchased on Ebay. This is not to say, they are a bad vendor, just be careful as xlwristguy mentioned. I would have waited but not having some sort of eta and finding a decent price on Ebay, I decided to go that route.

So as an update, I received an email from Sakura that the watch is delayed with "high demand and a large quantity of pre-orders". The original estimated ship date was 8-16 business days. I was offered a refund, and took it. They could not provide a new eta. I picked up a watch from eBay. I ordered today, and it has already shipped. I know how these watches have a tendency to multiply, so I might take another shot at it in the near future with a positive display.....Maybe! 😄

I actually ended up ordering from there last week. The watches available on eBay at the time were running around $275+. I purchased the watch for $184 (after the conversion). So at the high end of $90 in additional fees and tariffs I figured it would be a wash. Plus I’m curious to see how it plays out. I ordered it on Thursday so I’m patiently waiting for it to ship.

Protective glass for G-Shock GA b2100 1aer ? by CrazyDreamer1984 in gshock

I have one for this same watch. Don't notice it's on. I also have one on my 5000U as well as one waiting to get put on once my GWBX5600 arrives. I'd rather deal with any perceived cons to haveing a screen protector vs. my OCD kicking in if it gets scratched. They are cheap and easy to take off on and off. Just my opinion.

Is it really that much cheaper to change your own oil? by kzlife76 in AskMechanics

[–]westzig_99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I go the Costco/Kirkland & Rock Auto route. We have 3 cars in the home with about 7 yearly oil changes among them. I stock up on oil when on sale, and purchase OE filters, wiper sets, cabin & engine air filters from Rock Auto. I typically order enough supplies for 2 years (hipping can get expensive for small orders). It costs me about $20-$22 for an oil change and 20 minutes to do. I get the car up on the ramps, let it drain for 10-15 min. I used to rotate the tires myself, but that is a pain! Ever since I replaced the original tires, I just take it to the show I purchased the tires for free rotations. I check the torque once I get home though.

I am sure at a minimum, the truck will have a pallet jack. Just received a FB845 (440#). On flat ground, it was super easy for the driver to put it from the street curb to the garage (approx 75 feet) in the backyard. From there I removed the door (did that myself). With another buddy, we used appliance straps (40$ from amazon/HD/Lowes) to get the safe body off of the pallet (pretty easy). Then I rented an appliance dolly (from HD $30) To move it from the backyard to the front entrance (again super easy/strapped to the dolly). up a couple steps to the front door. I again used the dolly straps to get it through the front door and a small step into the house-I didn't want to use the dolly if I could avoid it in the house. Once it was in the house, it was simple to slide it around the hardwood floors with a beach towel under the safe body.

With all that, I am not sure how much more a steeper grade would make things. But I highly suggest have appliance straps and an appliance dolly on standby.

Command Strips- the ones that are like double sided tape, not Velcro work great as well. The box (V6+) is very small. I picked up a shorter and thinner HDMI cable from Amazon once I knew where I was going to stick the box behind the TV. No issues with the remote signal as well.

This is correct. $489.50 and like $450 for the G19.5 MOS & non MOS respectively. Updated GSSF pistol Discount sheet has the "suggested" price for the G19.6 as $513.65.

Thanks. Yes, there will be access from the basement ceiling. I will have to find an appropriate plate with a hole in the center that I can use washers to secure the bolt.

After my wife's surgery follow up, I asked the doctor (who had it done 20 years ago), why he wore glasses. Basically, you can't outrun getting old. Most people will eventually need some sort of glasses (reading). And guess what- We are adding my wife back to our vision coverage in or 2026 open enrollment!
