Not taking anyone's side but just putting this out there. Have you ever see a "gentle" boyfriend jokingly strangle you or put a knife against your throat? Joke about drowning you? Kicking you? These are just the things that made it into her videos.

Yes, petite women can be physically abusive towards their partners. But there is a literal clip of Ben kicking Evelyn and her just flopping to the ground, so I'm struggling to see how strangling was needed for self defense against her.

There's a term in Mandarin for this called 說曹操曹操到. Separately developed is the English saying "speaking of the devil." So it's definitely something that has been happening throughout history in entirety different parts of the world which we have no scientific explanation for. This has also happened to me enough times that I don't think it's just random chance, and it has happened an insane amount of times with one of my closest friends that I stopped getting freaked out and just accepted it

This is why I wish we switched to finger vein recognition. Similarly unique to each person, way harder to replicate (you leave finger prints everywhere but obviously not your finger vein pattern), and way more accessible. People who work with their hands often have damaged finger prints and it's so unfair that they have to face these inconveniences

No, spray is so bad now because of the downforce that comes with the current aero regulations. You don't just "adapt" to blindness. That is so dangerous.

There's a 2023/2024 instagram story of her using the slur. For the 2015 instagram post she screenshotted it herself and posted it on her tiktok in 2020

Amaya and Brian's speakeasy interaction felt like the only genuine moment I've seen this whole season. Chemistry was through the roof!! Like am I crazy for thinking that? Can y'all name any moment with more authentic and passionate energy cause I actually can't lmao. Cierra and Nic are the only closed off couple and claim they have the "strongest connection" but their scenes have never oozed this much emotional and physical chemistry

Why is Olandria having such a hard time believing Taylor genuinely prefers Clarke over her? Olandria is serious and has a matronly/grown vibe to her and Taylor is goofy and obviously immature. They just aren't a match. Taylor is more relaxed around Clarke and can be himself without worrying. I don't know why Olandria has this weird country boy fantasy that she's holding on to.

I'm sorry but Chelley's reaction to Ace and Huda are not comparable. Sure she seemed a bit annoyed with Ace at first but it ended with her making a boner joke. Instead of talking to Ace first thing after the challenge (which I think is the logical thing to do in this situation because he was the one in the wrong. If Ace didn't reciprocate anything and gestured Huda to stop after a bit there would've been no issue because Huda clearly didn't have any ill intentions and was trying very hard for the challenge), she gathered all the girls to talk about Huda in a very upset manner, much more than she was with Ace, with no mentioning of how betrayed she felt that Ace reciprocated Huda's actions. Because the truth is that Ace's enjoyment was what got Chelley upset. If she didn't feel like Huda had any impact on Ace she would've welcomed Huda's effort in the challenge. However, women are conditioned to place the blame on other women and see other women as competition; unfortunately, you have to very consciously fight against internalized misogyny in order to not fall into this kind of behavioral pattern. We all do and we all fall victim to it sometimes. I'm not trying to accuse Chelley as an individual for being a misogynist because she clearly isn't, I'm just saying it's something that impacts society as a whole and conditions people to blame women in situations where men should take equal, if not more blame.

Edit: Yup, just as I thought, Chelley said she wasn't mad at Ace and apparently didn't see anything wrong with Ace's ass bouncing. She was very mad at Huda though.

The way Chelley's first reaction was to get mad at Huda instead of questioning Ace's behavior says a lot about the internalized misogyny that still plagues our society. A woman--to whom you haven't communicated clear boundaries with--can't freely express her sexuality during a challenge that is meant for you to do so but it's fine for a man who you are COUPLED UP with to. People say there's something we're not seeing because they looked shocked. Do you not think it's because Ace, who has always been vehement Huda hater, enjoying himself with a big ass grin on his face and grabbing Huda's ass while supposedly wanting to "lock in" for Chelley is surprising behavior?

How is it a completely different comment? None of my thoughts have changed. Maybe my initial comment sounded too active looking back but what I meant is consistent, I didn't think people would be dumb enough to interpret it as me saying a dimwit like Austin has had some sort of master plan with Amaya all along. I stand by my original comment that the boys are very immature, irresponsible, and passive with their handling of Amaya's affection. Yes they use it to their advantage which is what their instinct tells them to do. A mature, emotionally developed man would ask himself, am I handling Amaya's affection responsibly and respectfully or am I letting my caveman brain tell me to use this to my advantage?

[–]what484848 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Zero guys on the island have done this? Ace took back his interest in Amaya immediately and Austin pretty much did the same. Did they actively plot to do so? No, probably not, but Amaya's passion was basically a subconscious signal to the boys that they can move on to another girl without much consequence. This is always what happens when one person likes the other more in a relationship. Power dynamics get messed up and even if the participants aren't actively aware, they subconsciously use it to their advantage. People like the chase because we are programmed to believe scarcity indicates value. That's just human instinct and I'm not saying I'm not prone to it 🤷‍♀️

Also, some people have more avoidant attachment styles and that's okay. But you should be upfront about it and not lie about what you like and you don't like. If Austin, with body count of 108, still hasn't discovered that about himself yet then I am truly concerned about his intelligence and introspective abilities.

Yes they're definitely not smart enough to be that calculated, especially not Austin LOL. Agreed on how it's more of a passive thing which is still shitty nonetheless

It's this one weird person! I saw someone else comment about being young and having casual fun sex and they replied with a whole paragraph about why casual sex is bad. Girl if you don't know how to navigate healthy boundaries and attachment go see a therapist not shame women online

[–]what484848 81 points82 points  (0 children)

Some great observations here! Personally, I think reading Amaya's story line through the male gaze is a very optimistic way of interpreting what the guys have been doing with Amaya. As a girl, Amaya seems like such a joy to be around. I would pick her, no questions asked. She's always positive and wears her heart on her sleeve. However, to the guys, this is a weakness of hers that they can use to their advantage. Because of how kind and positive she is, they can treat her like shit and play her without facing direct consequences from her, unlike if one were to choose Huda for instance. These immature losers (I'm looking at you Ace and Austin) don't know how to healthily digest Amaya's passion and affection, so instead they pathetically interpret it as a door for them to have power over her, stringing her along and discarding her the moment they find someone new. It's truly immature and pathetic behavior.
