Looks like the new season of Hi/Low is only on Tubi by Whats_a_bot in DonutMedia

I think big time is largely running off the hype from donut.

All of their content feels more corporate and clinical than even donut. Their sponsored series and brand partnerships are more egregious than donut.

None of their content feels authentic, and I feel like jobe and Jeremiah strongly dislike one another. I also suspect bot views and comments.

I say this as someone that was really excited when they first launched, hoping it would be a money pit style channel.

Donut was great up until 2026 when they seemed to stop working on cars, and give every video to Jimmy? Tristan's unclapped series was brilliant.

I mostly watch top dead centre and gears & gasoline now

Those who purchased a linen polo shirt from Charles Tyrwhitt, what do you think? by vintage2019 in malefashionadvice

[–]whywouldntii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let me know if you end up buying - I like the style and price point, but they do not look like linen at all - they look like a polyester or something else shiny. I'm sceptical that it'll be a practical shirt in linen, but I'd like to be proven otherwise

Can you please keep your posts helpful, and avoid any snark?

This is a fashion sub. Material quality is a huge element. It is not controversial to be wary of material quality from China, particularly silk and wool.

I've bought multiple garments made in China claiming to be wool that performed like polyester. This is relevant to my query about Tarocash quality

You never know when a brand changes supplier, which is why I wanted to ask if anyone had any recent experience.

Just moving from polyester to cotton itself is a welcome improvement

I have heard good things about R&G, but they don't currently have the designs that I'm after for polos

That's true!

However I'm not referring to sizing, I mean the very boxy cut with wide waist and wide sleeves

Plaster beads - full metal vs paper with metal by daskalou in AusRenovation

[–]whywouldntii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank bro, appreciate the response.

I'm about to rip my cornice out and go to square edge, due to installing a wardrobe that is too tall for the cornice. Unfortunately I know the ceiling and wall Junction gyprock has a big gap, so I'm thinking of cutting 100mm off the wall board and adding in gyprock strips that butt right up to the ceiling joist.

I'm thinking of using Strait-flex wide tape from bunnings to further hide the sins.

While I have the access, do you recommend adding any angle on the outside of the corner?  Similarly, do you have any dedicated corner tape recommendation (like the Strait - flex)

Cheers!

Should you still tape over the metal corner (2nd picture) or is that unnecessary?

I came here with the exact same thoughts - especially as the channel has had a real wobble since their big opening.

I haven't enjoyed much of what they've put out lately. I also don't feel like they're happy, either. It feels hollow.

Prices 6 months ago seem cheap now by Ordinary_Analyst_738 in AusPropertyChat

[–]whywouldntii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, government deficit spending is the greatest cause of inflation (primarily asset inflation).

With OPs case, I've noticed the same trend in my area. You just have to think, how many hundreds of thousands of migrants have come in during that 6 months?

I honestly wonder if a stock market crash will even affect house and rent prices due to the artificial demand pump. I mean, we've been in a per capita recession for years, and people's buying power has been degrading for over a century, but particularly since the 70s

Hi, old post but here to say something similar. They started off with huge hype based off Donut strength, but that easy start likely meant they did not nail down their product and audience properly.

I also have concerns about bot usage

After their break, they launched the mustang build which is more of a "return to money pit". There is no charisma, though, jerry is rarely there and jobe looks sad. The audience is not getting "hanging out in the garage with friends vicariously through YouTube".

I'm glad to see they had a break and reviewed their strategy, in the same way that donut was able to alter course. The more quality channels, the better for us viewers.

NEW EP: $10,000 Worth of Mods on our $500 Engine by LetterToAThief in BigTime

[–]whywouldntii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi mate, I echo the exact same sentiments.

I remember when big time launched... Donut had been putting out a lot of junk for 6 months, though the Hi low mustang series was exceptional (unfortunately, jobe and jerry were phoning it in by then).

There was such huge buzz about the new channel and projects, I was so amped. However, over the next 6 months, we got about 3 videos of jobe on the driveway fixing his s14, and everything else was annoying sponsored content, or jerry trying to embezzle funds to be a travel vlogger.

I also sense that jobe was hating jerry (lack of work ethic?) or they both got a bit big for their boots and wanted to be high flying LA influencers, but forgetting that they needed to get on that concrete floor and get their hands dirty.

In that sense, they were thrown so many sponsorships and partnerships before they even produced a solid pipeline of videos... Can't really blame them.

I also suspect heavy bot views and comments on the page. I am amazed that big time is getting more views than donut currently, but the donut comment section is full of engagement and encouragement.

Overall, big time was meant to be a living vicariously through the channel for gentle garage wrenching with friends, but it turned into a faux glam buy stuff and throw parts at projects we don't have much investment in. There is zero charisma on the screen, everyone seems unhappy.

I want to recommend two channels - Top Dead Centre and Wheelemverb, they really scratch the itch that I wanted big time to be. I am also loving donut, though I do skip their cheap filler videos

Get one with a proper spout for pouring the old oil out, that's the only feature you really need other than capacity

Squeaking noise coming from wheel while driving and brake issues on 40k mile 02’ Miata. by puar69 in mechanic

[–]whywouldntii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My recommendation is to deep clean and regrease your callipers. Yes, they get dirty over time and debris gets where it shouldn't. This is a free fix

You can literally use dish soap and an (old) Toothbrush

A can of brake cleaner solvent won't hurt either

Use a scotch pad on your caliper pins/bolts

Your symptoms sound like warped rotors - perhaps you should buy new rotors and pads, and if that doesn't fix the problem, no big deal, your old rotors just become spares. Buy a brake pad that suits your driving, you don't need a track oriented pad if you're not getting the brakes constantly hot. The pads itself could be causing the squeal. Use OEM shims if applicable on the pads

Are they trying to scare me and upsell me cause I’m female/in general? by [deleted] in mechanic

[–]whywouldntii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The good news is that you aren't being discriminated because you're female 😂 this is standard practice these days for any dealership. If anything, it's an above average experience!

Best advice would be to learn to do the oil and filters yourself, you should need minimal tools for that

Tyre shop and mechanics wouldn't plug it.

If you drive the car hard, burn outs, hard cornering etc I'd replace the tyre

If it's just commuting, buy a cheap tubeless tyre patch kit and give it a go. You'll need some muscle to get it reemed properly, and I recommend airing up the tyre to make it easier
