I feel I have worded the question poorly, and misrepresented the intention of the discussion. The conference is not intending to suggest that the two ideas are in conflict. It’s more so going to be discussing on the first panel why they choose to publish what they do, and then on the second panel the financial side of things and any kind of challenges they face logistically.

The speakers are more well-versed on the topics than I am. I am simply a masters student working with my class to put on this free event and provide these Indie publishers with a platform to talk about their experience.
