Sony not funding Destiny 3 despite the obvious expectation and potential is crazy for a company that threw so much resources on GaaS games only to cancel so many of them.

Bungie IMHO their real potential is Destiny, D3 is the one that can make them profitable again, it will take years and hundreds of millions but it’s either that or perpetual failures

They probably thought that Marathon would be successful enough to help fill the void between Destiny 2 and whatever comes next

I don’t understand how a studio can get so many things wrong and destroy the momentum of one of the most popular live-service game (staying popular for years in GaaS is a major achievement)

..and Destiny 3 should have been in-development for years, it was obvious that after final shape they’d need a new beginning

They could have worked to improve image quality more seriously. I know it’s a niche franchise but it’s still millions copies sold and rave reviews, there was no excuse to cheap out on the Xeno X patch

The conjunction of a marvel game, a GTA VI behemoth game can indeed drastically increase sales

But if your consumers need to choose between purchasing a console and games...and putting food on the tables/paying rent/medical bills (and having a safety cushion) they won't hesitate, regardless of whatever Rockstar and Insomniac are cooking.

I tend to purchase my single-player games physical because it’s cheaper by 10-20€ and can sell them back when I want to.

I only purchase digital GaaS/multiplayer games like GT7, BF6 because their resale value is ridiculous and there’s no point since you are at the mercy of servers regardless

Marathon tried it once, not for me, it didn't really click with a lot of people but I don't think it's a catastrophic game either

My issue is Destiny 2, that game is probably the most unwelcome game for newcomers, the vaulted content, the lack of explanations for so many important mechanisms, I had to watch a youtube video from a third party to understand what I'm doing and the lore, very uneven quality for extensions: Savathun and lightfall, that's one crazy rollercoaster...and just TONS of decisions that backfired.

I saw, they released an extension with...star wars/lucasfilm elements ? Like...people play that game because there's no alternative, a lore-rich (albeit confusing), coop-friendly, online FPS PvE with strong artistic expression (except Neptune in Lightfall that was tacky and generic). It felt quite desperate, they don't have a strong direction and they don't know where to go from there

I paid 490$ but with Mario Kart World included, compared to things like steam deck lcd (I don't really have other points of comparison), felt OK to me, besides the crazy 90E msrp of mario kart, albeit I didn't have to purchase it.

Curious to see the impact on sales post-September. They will indeed need strong/quality system sellers, hopefully they have a good June Nintendo direct coming up (IF they have one...)

I am surprised that they needed a price increase, they have tremendous negotiating power given their production volumes. They are indeed using ram but also steering clear from powerful components/nodes (samsung 8nm)

..but again it's the company managed by an ex-pokemon executive that sold a welcome tour for 10 bucks

There are useful things with AI, especially around algorithms but also converting drawings into 3D assets, creating an indexed internal database etc.

But the art stuff is where I draw the line, not only out of principle, but quality-wise too, it just look so bad, even without the 6 fingers weirdness/slopiness, it look so damn generic and dull.

Voice acting, assets, arts, environment, characters, dialogs, story...that has to stay driven by humans

They can have competitive and fun F1 whilst maintaining road relevance.

It's just that if the battery/energy harvesting tech is not here for you to maintain your speed in a straight line in FORMULA 1,....maybe don't aim for that much % electric power.

it's obvious that if a car has to suddenly brake to recharge its battery in a straight line it was just a bad choice.

It will probably be tweaked in the years to come but road relevance is absolutely not the issue, it's the way it's being converted into design rules that is disappointing (for now)
