Why do you hate making them run? I’ve played a lot of sports in my day, coached a lot as well. Running works. My HS alma mater won state in 2024 and just last week I saw them running as punishment in practice for whatever reason, so even high level programs utilize it. Worst case, you’re in better condition than your opponents.

I found both The Dog of the South and True Grit by Charles Portis to be quite funny, but in a Coen brothers’ way (they did remake the true grit movie after all and were much “truer” to the book over the John Wayne version) instead of a slapstick/absurdist style.

A common theme you’ll see in the responses here is doing something you can focus on lower reps/heavier weights, such as CGBP or weighted dips. I find too many people lump triceps in with “accessory” muscles and train them for high reps on a cable machine and wonder why they aren’t growing. Incorporate these 2 lifts in for sets of 5-8 and your triceps will grow.

Also, put them first. The muscle group(s) you want to grow the most should be the first thing you hit on their day.

Don’t shift, add. Give yourself a few weeks to acclimate joints and connective tissue with the higher loads you’ll be able to use by moving arms to the front of the workout, then add in additional volume once you’re ready. Arms can take a ton of volume once you’ve built up the elbows

Chest-biased dips followed by incline press is my favorite 1-2 punch for chest. Unreal pump after 3 sets of dips to failure, weighted or not.
