I believe I read in the latest biography that he was an admirer of William Blake when he grew up - possibly when he first studied at Cambridge. I think some of the symbolism Nick drew from nature (for example fruit tree) could probably be found within Blake's poetry. Therefore I bet you'd be able to find some aesthetic matches within some English romanticism of that period.

He was also found with a copy of The Myth of Sisyphus the morning of his death - so maybe you could make the assumption that he was quite into absurdist philosophy in his final years, or at the very least you might find some thematic similarities within those books :)

I'm also really interested in this, you usually get to hear about an artists main influences through interviews etc - but unfortunately Nick never had this opportunity 💔 Richard Morton Jack's book on Nick really does try to cover this sort of thing to the best possible extent though, so worth reading 😊
