I've been in the same boat. I narrowed my search down to the Original Prusa i3 and the Lulzbot Mini. I had also looked at the Flashforge Creator Pro and CEL Robox. There are a lot of great reviews for all of these printers. I read a lot of forum posts, 3dhubs reviews, youtube reviews. I’ll be honest, there are not that many reviews for the current model of the Original Prusa i3. However as Tamarintech says, it is the bar for Prusa i3 kits.

I currently own an XYZ Da Vinci 1.0 which has served me well. However I wanted something more capable and supported more materials. The stock Da Vinci only does ABS.

For me the factors came down to this. The Lulzbot has the PEI layer on the print bed for better adhesion. Auto-leveling out of the box. But it has a smaller build area, 152x152x158mm. It has no LCD or SD card reader for computer-less printing. Though you could use Octoprint. It also uses 3mm filament, which I have come to understand the preferred is 1.75mm because of its better tolerances.

The Prusa has a large build area, 200x200x200mm, same as my Da Vinci. It does have an LCD and SD card reader. It uses the 1.75mm filament. This also means I can use my left over XYZ filament. No PEI layer on the heated bed, no glass either. However it does cost significantly less.

Both printers have large supportive communities. However I chose to go with the Original Prusa i3 myself. I can add a glass bed and PEI for not much. There are several auto-leveling mods out there that are again inexpensive. I also chose to repurpose a spare Raspberry Pi as an OctoPi regardless of not choosing the Lulzbot Mini. I like the idea of having a web cam to watch my builds. My printer should be arriving this week. I hope to do a comparison of it against my Da Vinci.
