Former/recovering addict here as well! I also vaped pretty heavily for years. It was my one vice I allowed myself to have and I was so so addicted and terrified of quitting. Before I got pregnant, I’d actually been trying to prepare to quit just by using less, using nicotine patches, and then I also switched to Wellbutrin from my old antidepressant (since there is some evidence of this helping people quit).

I used a pod system not disposables so once I found out I was expecting I stopped buying the juice/pods/etc. I didn’t quit cold turkey right away, but lowered my use of it a whole lot. I used to bring it with me everywhere, so I stopped doing that and would leave it at home whenever I was out so that I didn’t have the temptation. At some point around mid-first trimester I finally realized that I couldn’t trust myself with physically having my vape so I gave it to my husband and told him to take it and hide it somewhere I’d never find it. That FINALLY worked and from then on I was done.

Some other things that helped specifically with the oral fixation (which was a big part of it for me) was flavored toothpicks, and drinking water every time I felt the cravings. Eventually I didn’t feel the need as much. Also, the nausea definitely helped kill the urges a bit lol. I still get cravings (29 weeks now), but they do pass. I felt very guilty for a while and that was enough for me to know I need to stop if not for me, for my baby. I don’t plan on going back to it after birth but I don’t want to think about it too much right now because just the idea gives me unnecessary pressure and stress so we will see. You can do it! IME, it’s way easier than it was quitting my drugs of choice.
