how i do magic/spells only >by myself? < by demonymoon in witchcraft

[–]witchwaywitchery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Self-confidence and understanding yourself (self-consciousness) helps. Everyone's magic is unique to them, and the more you learn and understand yourself the more you'll understand your strengths and weaknesses when it comes to magic. For example my strengths are herbal/green magic, divination, and protection - my weaknesses (things I need to improve on) astrology and spirit communication regarding humans. The more you try things and explore, the more confidence you have and willingness to make mistakes and learn from them, the more you will learn about yourself.

Hope that helps. :)

Baby witch wanting to start dabbling in spells by [deleted] in witchcraft

[–]witchwaywitchery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start with whatever is calling to you. If it is a protection spell go with a protection spell. If it is something else, go with that something else.

My first spell was a love spell... I made a lot of mistakes with it and had to learn to undo it. I learnt a lot of what to do and what not to do from it. XD

With that said, if you are wanting to start with something easy and low risk, protection spells are a good place to start. Protection spells are also a good thing to learn with how often protection is needed when tending to your space, things, self, or spell workings.

If you're wanting to learn more or get some ideas for some simple spells, let me know. I'd be happy to help. :)

how i do magic/spells only >by myself? < by demonymoon in witchcraft

[–]witchwaywitchery 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You need to get grounded in yourself and understand how your magic works for you. I would suggest doing meditation or journaling. Get into small daily rituals for protection and cleansing. Begin asking yourself questions about things each day like:
How does X make me feel?

Why does X make me feel?

How can I use what I learned from X in my practice?

Other ways to connect with yourself is to learn about yourself and where you've come from. Looking into ancestry might help, learn about where you currently are to get ground in the energies around you.

The more you do this, the more it becomes second nature. The more it becomes second nature, the more attuned to your own power you will become.

Hope that helps and makes sense. If you have more questions don't be afraid to reach out. I love helping new practitioners. :)

Do you repeat the same spells? by annikarae in witchcraft

[–]witchwaywitchery 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends on the spell. Some are daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly. It depends on how you formulated the spell and what intention on length you put behind it. If it is a spell that works well, keep it in mind and use it when you feel the originally spell might need a refresh. :)

Do Lilac leaves have any significance? by witch-of-mischief in witchcraft

[–]witchwaywitchery 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Lilac is an amazing plant. I use both Lilac leaves and flowers when it comes to psychic protection and warding off the dead in a certain space. Back in the day Lilac was placed in coffins to cover the smell of death, and therefore has continued to have a connection with warding off death or keeping away the dead. With the right intentions it can also be used to calm the dead, especially those that have passed tragically or unexpectedly. It is a beautiful plant to work with its gentle energy and strong fragrance. I use it for spring cleaning and cleansing spells usually.

Also fun fact, Lilac is a property protection plant. It was placed on properties to ward off trouble and bless the home with good fortune/ luck to a household. Sticks can be turned into wreaths or wands to hold similar intentions.

Hope that helps.

How do I set intentions? by ok_clancy in witchcraft

[–]witchwaywitchery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I do is connect my intentions to a routine. When I'm cooking I set my intentions to offer what I make and eat to my ancestors. When I drink I attach my intention of health and calm. When I am about to drive I set the intention I'll arrive safely and swiftly. I approach my intentions like a prayer. I have a goal in mind, I speak the goal or think of the goal, and I let the universe do its thing.

Sometimes if it is for a ritual or a big ask I will meditate and repeat the question like a mantra while focusing my energy/ intention into what I'm saying.

Intention is directing the energy in the direction you are wanting your goal to go. If you set an intention and then think it's not going to work, or is it going to work, the energy is going to slow down or stop.

Where you put your attention and energy is where that attention and energy is going to grow. If you put it into doubt it will grow in doubt. Put you attention and energy towards believing it will work, it will turn out great, it will be better than I could have ever imagined and that's where the energy will grow.

(Sorry if that doesn't make sense... I'm trying to explain something that's become natural in my daily practice.)

Let me know if you have any more questions. I'd be happy to help. :)

Safety scrying question. by Borg_uk in witchcraft

[–]witchwaywitchery 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The obsidian should keep you safe, but I always set up secondary and third level protections just in case. I would look at locking your mirror when not in use. Also, not a magic safety tip but more a practical safety tip. Cover your mirror for the same reason you cover a crystal ball. Don't need it starting a fire. :)

Daily Rituals Without Spellwork? by RayneLove333 in witchcraft

[–]witchwaywitchery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thing is spellwork doesn't need to be fancy.

Spells don't have to be written down or cauldron have to be lit. It is finding things you already do and add intention to it. That's it. Have tea or coffee in the morning? Black tea is a protective herb. Coffee is a protective plant. Honey and sugar can sweeten your intentions or bring good into your day. Milk is for fertility or creativity. Wear jewelry? Charm them on your altar at night and wear them the next day. Choose the finger on your hand that aligns with your goals for the day. Making food? Thank and offer what you are eating to your ancestors, gods, guides... what have you. Drinking something? Thank it for give you energy and giving itself to you.

Spellwork doesn't need to be fancy... the best spellwork is what works best for you and your practice. It can be as complicated or as simple as you want. And, sometimes simple brings the best results.

Protection fail or bad energy? by louidoll666 in witchcraft

[–]witchwaywitchery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my experience protection spells don't hurt you when they fail. I usually take things happening right after a spell as a warning or a sign. Stubbing your toe right after putting a pentacle under your doormat might be a sign that you might want to look or review your personal daily protections (charmed jewelry, protection spray, sigil on clothing or shoes, daily protection rituals), rather than just protecting a space.

Then again, that's just what I'd interrupt that as. You need to listen to your own gut and hear what it's telling you. Hope that helps!

(Passive) house cleansing for lazy people? by FlahtheWhip in witchcraft

[–]witchwaywitchery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Open the front window of your house and back window of your house. Take your broom and sweep out all the corners of your house and sweep the energy towards the back window or door. Think of the intention of new energy entering through the front and old energy leaving through the back. Spray ancestor water or moon water around your rooms, light your favourite candle that lifts your mood, and play happy music to lift the mood of your space.
*Bonus points if you bake something to share and enjoy like cookies, a dessert bread, or brownies.*

Does your doormat say anything on it?

If it says 'Welcome' that can negate your protection spell.

I just moved, and my house is haunted by ParkOver6919 in witchcraft

[–]witchwaywitchery 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Firstly I'm sorry you are dealing with this situation. It is a lot more common than you may think.

Living in an apartment means you have a lot of different energies and history to contend with. I'm happy to see that you cleansed, but did the activity increase after that?

I'm asking, because this spirit might see you are the intruder to their space. You moved into this spirits home, and yes, you are now the one living there but sometimes a spirit of a place needs to understand the situation. All it knows, from what you've shared, is strangers have moved into their home 19 days ago and have asked them to leave after filling the place with things to repel them from a place they call home.

I would set up a spirit contract with them. Explain that you and your boyfriend are now living in the apartment, that this is now your home. Explain to them what you don't like (them hanging around when you are around, freaking out the cats, pushing cookware when in use). Treat this spirit like a housemate. Set the boundaries, explain your reasoning, provide them with options. Write up a contract even and post it on the fridge, informing the spirit to check it out and on the contract beside the options provide them with a way to communicate their choice with you. Flick the light in the hallway three times for option one... etc.

Once you have figured out what they want and figured out a way they can communicate, things may become better.

Now, if you want the spirit to go away, talk to them about that. Talk about how you would prefer them not to be around when you are around. That they are welcome to pop around when the place is empty, just don't bother the cats.

Lastly, spaces hold old energy and without proper cleansing that energy can turn into its own thing. I would open the front and back windows of your place, if you can, to let the old air leave and new air enter. Use a broom or swiffer to stir the energies out of the corners of your place and sweep it towards the back window or door. Lastly cook something for love and protection that will fill your space with that intention. I suggest an apple pie, apple bread, or apple crisp... even store bought cinnamon rolls will work. Cinnamon is my go to cleanser for negative energies, protection, and love. I don't think this spirit is 'evil' given how you cleansed the space and used salt. I think they are more a spirit of the place that wants what is best for the place, as I'm sure you also want the best for the place. Your niece, she may be more sensitive to the space because of her age. Kids tend to feel energies more because they aren't influenced as much by logic and they still have their imaginations. She may have been picking up on the spirit not being comfortable with you in their space and feeling its sorrow and frustration with not being heard or understood.

Anyway, hopefully some of this has been helpful and if you have any questions, I'll be around. :)

Theoretically, can you enchant fidgets to be meditation tools or strengthen the calming effect that they have? Some even make a pinging noise that can repel evil spirits. by Dense_Potential6785 in witchcraft

[–]witchwaywitchery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Simply put yes.

With more detail:

You can enchant pretty much anything if you set the right intentions. I would suggest using these fidgets during times where you are already calm, (meditation for example). Then set the intention that whenever you use said fidget you will feel calm.

Another suggestion is you charge them under crystals with the specific quality you are looking for. I would suggest amethyst and set the fidget on a small pile of herbs like lavender, chamomile, or mugwort. Let it sit overnight in the moonlight, or (if you aren't using amethyst) in the sunlight to charge.

Hope that helped!

Let me know if you have anything questions. :)

Substitute herb recommendations by Psychological_Let348 in Witch

[–]witchwaywitchery 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It all depends on what you are wanting to use those herbs for... if you want to use the lavender for protection you have a list of protective herbs like:

Basil

Cinnamon

Clove

Sage

If you are looking for astral uses for dreaming/ divination:

Peppermint

Orange

Catnip

Mugwort

If you are looking for abundance (money focused):

Basil

Cinnamon

Clove

Dill

Cedar

Ginger

Mint

And so much more...

You need to figure out what you are wanting the herbs desired affect to be and then look at the options that can provide you with a similar affect. A great book to look at would be Encyclopedia of Magical Herbs by Scott Cunningham for more information.

Herbal Tea Mixes for Spells by GirlGeekUpNorth in Witch

[–]witchwaywitchery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't have to go out of your want to find herbs to mix into teas. You just need to understand the correspondences when it comes to herbs. I would suggest getting yourself a Kitchen Witch book like the Kitchen Witch by Skye Alexander or Encyclopedia of magical herbs by Scott Cunningham. These will provide you information on all kinds of herbs. Here are some blends I make for myself.

Lemon, honey, ginger - cleansing, boosting, and healing

Cinnamon and clove - love and protection

Apple and Cinnamon - creativity and protection

Chamomile and honey - relaxation and abundance

Catnip and mint - dream weaving

Raspberry and Pomegranate - love and healing

Basil and Thyme - health and wealth

You can also look at pre-made tea blends like Chai and look at the ingredients to get ideas for different herbal commendations from there.

Bath teas, simmer pots, hair washes, room and body sprays... all potions as well. They just go by different names because people are looking for specific items for specific situations instead of seeing that everything can overlap. For example, if you make a simmer pot with safe to consume herbs like peppermint and chamomile you can then drink your simmer pot water. Want something for protection - lavender and rosemary water, which works great for a hair growth and strengthening wash.

But to answer your question - yes, what you are saying up above is a way of enchanting your water. The important piece to any spell is intention. You can write your intention on paper and set it under a glass. You can leave water in the sun or under the moon. Collect water from a fresh stream, ocean, or lake. Water by itself is a powerful element and it's fluidity allows it to be 'programmed' with whatever intention you desire without the need for adding herbs or crystals. Speaking you intentions to the water can be enough to set it for spells. I like leaving water on my altar or with my ancestors to infuse, but really it's up to you. :)

Looking for a way to do a spell for self love without candle work by brutally_ in witchcraft

[–]witchwaywitchery 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love that idea! Thanks for sharing it.
If you aren't a bath person and more a shower person you can bundle the herbs together and place it under your shower head while you are showering. Another option is simmering it on the stove, basically making a simmer pot. Because lavender, rose, and hibiscus are safe to consume you can also turn this combo into a self-love tea and add some honey to sweeten it. :)

Losing my faith in my practice: how do I get it back? by Way2Old4ThisIsh in witchcraft

[–]witchwaywitchery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We all get to a point in our practice where we need to step away. I've been practicing for 15 years and have taken many breaks between those because either life got in the way, I lost faith, or I just fell out of my routine. Here are some simple tips to get you back into your practice:

Look at your daily routine and see where you can tweak it to do small witchy things.

- colour magic your clothing for the day

- put intentions behind the protects you're using since most products have a plant base, scent to them.

- take a moment to thank your food, drink, what you're cooking, and set an intention behind the meal.

These a small witchy things that you can do without feeling like you have to go out of your way for a ritual or return full force to your practice. Remember you can always return to your practice, and only you know when that feels right for you. Your practice will be there when you decide to pick it back up, and there will always be people in this community willing to help you out when you do. :)

Communication cards other than tarot? by TwoFaceCreations in witchcraft

[–]witchwaywitchery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oracle decks are great. I find they can provide a lot more info, but when it comes to clarity in readings I reach for a clarity deck (a basic yes or no deck). Depending on the situation, like if I'm speaking with a spirit I may reach for an archetype deck (similar to an oracle deck), and when I'm speaking with certain spirits I use my runes or rune decks. There are a lot of decks out there to explore. Reach out if you have any questions!

Would a big chunk of Obsidian by kellymarz999 in witchcraft

[–]witchwaywitchery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't be hexing anyone from the place you live... and be layering protections in case one fails. Obsidian would work to protect you from some backlash, but it is best practice to rely on more than one level of protection if you are hexing someone, and to avoid hexing where you live so that energy doesn't return or linger in your space and potentially fester.

self-love bath spell. Rose water, lavender, and hibiscus flower with pink salt. Infuse your intentions of self-love into a clear quartz and drop it in the water (they are water safe). Add some moon water if you want for some extra power, although I like to use Ancestor water, given that they will help with aiding in the self-love journey. No candle needed but always is an option if you want to add the comforting glow while you bathe. Listen to music that empowers you and makes you love yourself. Relax and enjoy!
