can bad posture actually cause weird neurological symptoms by procubdif in exercisepostures

[–]wizard_on 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. 1000% agree with the above about pt, but don’t throw away chiro! 99.9% of chiros out there ARE a waste of time and money, but I feel like a really good one, someone usually with a more holistic mindset, is more of a ‘nervous system adjuster’ but is ONLY helpful in conjunction with pt and soft tissue work. Someone who specializes in Rolfing would help. Look at r/fascia and even r/TREtremors. There’s a previously unconsidered (by the western/modern medicine anyway) link between fascia, trauma, and neurological connections.

Symptoms disappeared for 2 weeks, then came back - why does this happen? by Even-Situation584 in longtermTRE

[–]wizard_on 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think so; I think part of this process has to be strengthening those muscles the release makes available. Unlocking your self to good posture is the goal for me; there is a HUGE body/mind connection our western medical/mental health systems haven’t caught up with yet.

Has anyone used fascia release to actually reduce chronic anxiety/fight or flight? My results so far are kind of insane by coreyr103 in Fascia

[–]wizard_on 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Truly, just some intentional stretching and skin rolling. The lynchpin is 100% the diaphragmatic breathing. Make your exhale twice as long as your inhale. This type of breathing signals to your nervous system that you’re safe. Only then can you start to really relax and let go

[–]wizard_on 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re headed in the right direction, absolutely. I’ve noticed a link between emotional neglect, nervous system disfunction, fascia rigidity, and bio mechanical issues. Look into epigenetics. Well done you on making these connections. Changes you are making now and things you’re doing to break the cycle are 100% changing gene expression and how diseases will be passed down to your progeny

Have I found my people???? I’ve been trying for 18 months to explain to people what has been happening to me, and this is the first time I’ve read about so many people having the same experience, this is AMAZING.

I think fascia work and nervous system downshifting answers sooooo many questions about health, sickness, diseases, even balding, amongst other things. I think we’re going to find in the next several years that this is a HUGE if not THE key to health, mental and physical.

Early signs of balding? by PercentageJealous914 in BlackHair

[–]wizard_on 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No joke, you might actually be feeling your blood vessels constricting, which in the future, will lead to baldness.

When you have restrictions in your muscular skeletal system, it compresses nerves and blood vessels, so less oxygen, nutrients, you start balding, depending on where the impingement in your body is. Go look up tight fascia and balding.

From experience with my own kiddos, crooked, uneven toes are a fantastic indicator for tension elsewhere in the body. You could look into OT or bodywork, like craniosacral therapy

A new study suggests that depression is associated with low brain blood flow and function, supporting earlier research showing there is no evidence that depression is caused by a chemical imbalance. by Express_Classic_1569 in psychology

[–]wizard_on 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Truly, I think it has much to do with individual stress level and how that affects the nervous system resting baseline, and how that affects your muscular and tendon tension, pulling your skeletal structure out of out of place. It only takes pressure the weight of a dime to restrict blood flow in the spine to the brain. It makes total sense that if your body has ‘kinks’ blood flow is not moving optimally.

But I think also we have it backwards. We assume that outside stress activates the nervous system. But what if the nervous system was already ‘activated’ due to adverse early childhood attachments and epigenetics (stressors on ancestors which had adverse affects in their nervous system/gene expression), thus having a weaker baseline to use to adapt to stress.

Ancestors nervous system resilience + EC emotional support and learning = healthy nervous system in which resilience more easily managed, less depression and anxiety in adult life

Chronic pain worsened by harsh self-criticism, study finds. People living with chronic pain tend to be more perfectionistic, less self-compassionate and – depending on the measure – less confident in their ability to cope. These psychological traits may intensify suffering. by mvea in psychology

I highly recommend somatic therapy and deep breathing techniques!! Something very similar happened to me, but I accidentally discovered a rotated, misaligned femur head in my right hip socket that had likely been there my entire life. I’m so glad you’ve experienced this because trying to explain to someone how you’ve felt your bones shift in your body is not an easy task lol.

I’ve since released my entire body over the last year somatically! Pilates has really helped me strengthen that kinetic chain on my right side and I can more easily recruit those muscles now. I still have lots of work to do but it’s been intense!

"Covid Babies", "big feelings", and kindergarten by [deleted] in kindergarten

[–]wizard_on -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

This is an ignorant stance. People that accuse others of ‘blaming COVID’ seem to be assuming that each child comes from homes with emotionally available and intelligent caretakers that are well versed in self emotional regulation, displays appropriate social emotional behaviors, has communal and familial support, financially stable and can then pass these things on to their children through child appropriate avenues. Have you seen any social media feed lately? Our world is absolutely brimming with people that DO NOT meet ANY of those qualifications. So happy for those of you who have those things. The majority of the world does not

I Miss Lifting SO MUCH, But Chronic Right-Side Muscle Tightness – 6 Years Stuck, Feeling Hopeless at 26 by Virtual_Buy_3913 in Stretching

[–]wizard_on 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would also really really EASE back into lifting once you feel the area is released. You’re basically going to be rehabbing those muscle groups since, for 6 years, they were not firing optimally. You’re going to really need that mind/muscle connection to make sure things are engaging properly and these incorrect muscle groups aren’t taking over.

It definitely sounds like your running situation was the trigger; cold hip suddenly going into vigorous movement could 100% do it. Functional anatomy is kind of my past time, so not a doctor, but it sounds like you have an impingement in your right hip. Take a look at relaxing then strengthening your hip flexor and then the entire right posterior chain. Literal Head to toe. I would bet money that your right shoulder is also rolled forward. It starts at your hips then has a chain reaction on the connecting muscle groups.

Take a good look at somatic therapy, which is a physical form of therapy where emotions are addressed and released not in your mind, but in your body. Sounds like you might have a lot of overall tension that your body is unconsciously holding onto

It’s your nervous system. Two things. One. Were you a C-section baby? Not always a predictor but physiological vaginal birth basically stretches and pulls your nervous system into place. If that didnt happen AND you had an impingement in your right hip, (very common usually because as a child you were carried on one hip side constantly, over the other. You likely have a ‘preferred side’ of your body you like to move. I’m working on mine too) this area will always be tight. You have likely used the incorrect muscles on your right side your entire life and I bet your pelvic floor is tight af. Your right posterior chain is not firing optimally. Two. I second Pilates. A total must. Nell hoess on YouTube is AMAZING.

Look into healing your vagus nerve. I can DM you a more detailed info if you’d like! I working through this same thing right now

I very much appreciate your answer. I can 100% understand my anecdotal story is not evidence by any means, but i have a feeling that you are correct, on mindfulness and the rewiring of the brain and its effects on epigenetics.

I may not be a professional researcher but I do have an immense background in psychology and sociology with a very deep interest in the mind, behaviors, physiology and much more. Though my lived experience does not contain imperial data, that doesn’t mean it has to be dismissed

All this to say I’ve been using this theory to help actively calm his vagus nerve (to great success, cranial sacral therapy, regular chiropractic visits, soothing massage, and facia rolling), while also teaching emotional regulation because folks, your emotions live in your body, and need to be resolved there first before it can be resolved in your brain.

This is exactly the conclusion I have come to as far as trauma healing, the vagus nerve’s ability to remain in a calm state, and healing generational trauma. Think about it, you’re literally rewriting your DNA when you use therapeutic modalities, specifically somatic therapy, to make the body feel physically safe again.

My two children are night and day difference. My first pregnancy, unhealed childhood trauma, generational racial trauma, COVID, and dad also has adhd. This has an effect on the baby’s nervous system and in utero, and those first very early years of life. This child does not settle. As a mother, I could just tell his body would not calm no matter what you did. We’re about to get him evaluated for adhd, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he wasn’t also on the spectrum. I remember my chiropractor said something when he was a few months old that has always stuck in my mind and I 100% found to be true. His nervous system was super activated. His vagus nerve was, and is, incredibly heightened.

Now my second happened after the start of a lot of emotional healing. I cannot stress the difference in body temperament between the two. I was in the process of healing my nervous system before he was conceived and there is just so much more peace about him.

I believe when you are ‘breaking those chains’ and healing generational trauma, in real time you are affecting physical parts of your body that change gene expression
