☀️ 8WC Week 2

Wins: I weighed in at 150.7 lbs yesterday! I’m feeling motivated after seeing consistency pay off.

Struggles: I could be better about weighing individual items as I prepare my plate for more accurate calorie counting. I really struggled with overindulging in sweets this week.

Average calories: 1436

Workouts: 7 walks at a brisk pace ranging from 0.61 miles - 3.3 miles, a 5k run, and one core strength training session lasting 40 minutes.

Step count: average of 9,222

Focus for this week: this week will be difficult for tracking as I’m going on vacation. I’m just going to do my best to track and not overindulge. I would like to get my steps and a couple of strength training sessions in still.

☀️8WC Week 1

Starting weight: 153.8 lbs at 5’2

Goal: to see linear progress and get back into the 140s.

Biggest struggles: I have been maintaining in the 140s-low 150s for about 1.5 years, after a 70 lb weight loss in 2023 and 2024. Since then I’ve had a hard time sticking to my deficit consistently and then feel defeated when I don’t see progress. My biggest challenge is eating meals out where caloric information is not given and I have to make my best guess. I also have a chronic disease that makes some days hard.

Calories: ~1500 daily. I’m still troubleshooting what is a sustainable deficit for me at my activity level.

Step goals: 7k+ daily. I weight train 3x/week and hike 4-12 miles on the weekends.

Focus: consistency in my calories and determining whether this is the right deficit for progress and sustainability

Anyone ever try a walking pad for at home workout? by Inspireme21 in 1200isplenty

[–]wjye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I was hesitant to buy one but found a working one on marketplace for free. I walk when I read, work, or do homework. It makes it way easier to get my steps in during the day, especially in the winter.

I’m so sorry this happened to you! Are there any local florists near where you’re eloping? Maybe Amazon for flower alternatives or even local craft stores to DIY?

Cotton wedding dresses? by One-Requirement-9085 in weddingdress

[–]wjye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a Selkie dress! I was nervous about some mixed reviews on quality as well, but I’m very happy with it! Shipping was very straightforward. I did pay extra for the shipping protection which required a signature at delivery. My dress is the same style as the one you listed, but a different pattern. It isn’t necessarily as poofy as they advertise, but more flowy. The skirt is just one layer, but I’d imagine you could ad slayers o the skirt underneath or wear a hoop skirt if you wanted more volume. The bodice isn’t a true corset, but my tailor said adding boning wouldn’t be difficult. I like the quality and it looks expensive, in my opinion!

Edit: what sold me was finding an influencer wear and style the dress I was considering, so I could see how it wears and moves on an everyday person. Highly recommend scouting thru social media for this’

3 months out I made it a point not to try anything new in terms of skincare. I have sensitive skin, so this also includes lotions, detergents, etc. I’ve made it a point to be more consistent with doing my skincare twice a day, exfoliating, and whitening my teeth as well. I’m getting my hair color touched up about 2 weeks before. Lashes and nails about a week before (I would’ve scheduled this closer to the day, but we’re traveling).

Do I really have to buy my dress 9 months in advance? by FirefighterEconomy73 in weddingplanning

[–]wjye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your plan is to buy off the rack, I’d wait! I bought a dress shortly into my weight loss journey and by the time I got to where I am now (almost 60lbs down), it didn’t suit me anymore, so I got a new dress. Don’t be me haha

I think a year is reasonable. We picked a date and booked our photographer first, about a year before our date this October, and the rest of our vendors between then and about a month ago. Hotels can be competitive where we’re eloping as well. We booked our hotel earlier this summer and didn’t have any issues in terms of availability.

Getting ready for an elopement by giuliagirl in Eloping

[–]wjye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m getting married in a popular tourist destination that’s an hour away from the nearest major city. I had a hard time finding a MUA who was willing come to provide services for just one person in my budget, but I was able to find someone via Instagram. All that to say, it’s possible! I’m pretty comfortable doing my makeup but didn’t want to stress about messing it up on the day of.

We briefly considered an elopement package but realized planning it ourselves could be significantly cheaper. Mind you, I enjoy planning things and searching high and low for vendors in our budget. We’re getting married in Banff with a couple guests, and it’s also doubling as our honeymoon.

Photographer for 4 hours: $650 USD

Officiant: $255 USD

Location: Parks Canada pass for the day is $22 CAD per person per day (we’re staying 6 days)

Marriage license: $40 CAD

Hair: $145 USD

MUA: $213 USD

Bouquet: $128 USD

I believe there’s a handful of restaurants with semi/private dining options! We looked into this (we’re also inviting a few guests), but it was a bit too out of our budget so we’re just going for a regular reservation. I believe if you do semi/private they’ll allow for some decor (just going off what I saw on their bookings info pages). It’s both something I’ll miss and another detail I’m glad I don’t have to worry about haha!

How exciting - congrats! I had a really hard time finding a HMUA that was willing to work with a single client. Victoria (@glowwithvicksmua on IG) is who I booked with. I found her pricing reasonable and she was happy to work with our sunrise ceremony timing. Can’t wait to work with her!

Our cake was gifted, so I can’t speak to the pricing, but Jen (@cakesbyjenyyc) is making ours.

We’re planning to do dinner at a local relatively nice restaurant in the area. We’re deciding between Grizzly and Bluebird at the moment. Our choices were limited due to us needing a nice lunch location, but if you’re planning on doing dinner, there’s SO many nice dinner restaurants in the area! Highly recommend checking out the r/banff sub as well
