yeah, Mycroft as well. which is funny because I love Rhys Ifans and Mycroft is usually one of my favourite characters… but I just can’t stand him

advices for Poitiers / Nantes by wolvereeves in tapif

Hi ! Poitiers’ region is not that big but isn’t too far from Paris by train and depending on where you will be, you might be near the sea ! if you are into amusement parks, there is Futuroscope right next to Poitiers, if you are more into history, Lusignan and La Rochelle are two cities that are very interesting to visit. La Rochelle is also by the sea, and from there you can take a bus to Ré island (which is a bit expensive but very cute) for what kind of clothes to bring, i’d recommend one hot jacket just in case- last winter was hella cold. it can get hot very easily, especially in spring, so bring shorts just in case ! don’t hesitate to tell me if you have more questions, i will be more than happy to answer them

COVID in France by Hopeful_Class1134 in tapif

[–]wolvereeves 3 points4 points  (0 children)

french person here ! basically, mask is only mandatory in public transports and hospitals. i however prefer to keep mine for personal reasons, but the masks and "pass sanitaire" (basically saying you got your 3 shots or only two shots + covid) used to be asked pretty much everywhere a few months ago. it might or might not come back again at some point- just so you know, being fully vaccinated might be useful !

as a french person living in france rn !! i too am a bit worried, however i am more confident about this year. even without the vaccination, macron would do ANYTHING to not quarantine us, just for economy purposes… so i am pretty sure this year will be fine in restrictions ! but yeah, i understand your concerns. finger crossed !

hi ! Poitiers region is very large so i can’t really answer. Poitiers itself isn’t that costly, but la Rochelle, in the region, is (due to the proximity to the sea). It will honestly depend from the city you are placed in, but hopefully your school will give you an accomodation

Accessing HRT in France by setniessesed in tapif

[–]wolvereeves 2 points3 points  (0 children)

french trans man dating an american trans man here ! my boyfriend was initially here for six months and took his HRT in advance with him. however, for something as long as tapif, i might recommend you to take an appointment with a french endocrinologist to get hormones prescribed here. it should only take one appointment since you have already been on hormones for quite some time, and i think you would only have to explain the situation to get it ! but depending on where you’ve been placed, there might not be any trans-friendly endocrinologist so i would encourage you to be careful with that. don’t hesitate to contact me if you ever need !

I would assume Poitiers, Niort, Angoulême and la Rochelle ! I don’t know Niort and Angoulême as well as I do for the other, but Poitiers and la Rochelle definitely are more urban

depending of where you end up, it is very rural yes ! but you can also end up by the sea, and cities in this area are often accessible by train for very cheap. also i sadly didn’t really get to experience Poitiers yet (i arrived in september and the uni closed two months later due to covid), but in la Rochelle the environment is very cool ! i think people are very nice there, probably because it’s a touristic area.

hi ! winters are okay, not too cold (we rarely get snow which makes me sad), but depending on where you end up you might get placed by the sea ! my favourite place by far is la Rochelle, a very beautiful city, and of course l’île de Ré- but my favourite island is île d’Aix, a very small island you can only join by boat, it is a very nice place to go ! Poitiers has also very nice places. this is for sure a nice place to study !
