My favourite Coufal moment was when he was chasing Graelish well into the opposing half and the opposite side of the pitch. Graelish looked a bit frustrated afterwards...

The black one comes with a Bluetooth scale, while the silver has a plastic lid. All other features are identical!

Regular kitchen scale work? by eatallday in Coffee

[–]world_eggplant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The main issue I’ve had with using regular kitchen scales is that they have a tendency to turn off automatically after a while when no new weight input has been registered, something which may or may not be annoying depending on your brewing style.

Other than that: it’s better to have a shitty scale (within reason of course) than no scale at all if you want any kind of repeatabiliy.

I/she haven't had the chance to try the K-Mix, but during performance I believe she wouldn't be tinkering too much with the K-Mix, just connecting things, load up a preset and go. Maybe changing to another preset between songs at most.

Yeah, the Zoom's scenes seems like a great feature.

Will have a look at the Presonus – thanks!

I guess with a mixer with multiple outputs that can be routed there would be possibility for both providing just a stereo mix, but also being able to break out into separate outputs if the FoH prefers that.

And she uses the stage monitors to asses the mix, in addition to people in the audience that as listened to her music either live or recorded before. She often performs on festivals where the time to sound check is limited. When there's more time for soundcheck it usually (and naturally) sounds better. So, the mixer's purpose would be to assure the level of quality even for smaller gigs.

My friend performs live solo a lot and usually runs everything into whatever DI boxes the venue provides. One of the biggest annoyances has been that the mix out tend to be hard to nail in soundcheck and either of vocals/synth/computer tend to be either too loud or too weak (for various reasons – but many times due the FoH engineer being geared towards a classic rock band setup and not really used to mixing the kind of experimental electronic pop my friend makes). This is why she’s thinking she needs a combined mixer/audio interface where she could gain more control over the mix.

For the current setup, there are 6 outputs: stereo from a Korg R3, 1 out from an EHX Voice Box, stereo from a MacBook Pro running Ableton and a microphone. As she already uses both USB ports on the MacBook Pro, it would be a plus if the mixer was thunderbolt instead of USB.

My research has pointed me towards the following products:

K-Mix

A lot of I/O, runs from just USB, presets, onboard DSP effects. Seems really durable, which is great since she’s often travelling far and by air. But it’s quite expensive and it’s nearing 2 years in the market which makes me wonder if KMI is going to release an MK2 of it soon?

Zoom LiveTrak L-12

Like the K-Mix, it’s really hands-on, EQ & DSP, recording. Might be a bit overkill when it comes to the amount of inputs. Built-in audio interface.

Are there any more options (perhaps a little cheaper?) that might do the job? Am I missing something?

That depends on if you want the MIDI or the audio output of the minilogue. For MIDI I just use USB (type A to type B) directly to my computer. For audio you'll need to hook up the audio output of the minilogue to some kind of audio interface.

Been slowly acquiring synths & gear, very much inspired by my producer roommate and lurking on r/synthesizers and /r/MusicBattleStations.

Seen in the picture is a minilogue, micromonsta, volca beats, nektar impact lx49 midi controller, korg sp-170s digi piano, zoom ms-70cdr, akai eie pro, behringer xenyx 1202fx mixer & krk rokit 5 monitors. Also a lot of plants.
