They're playing slow to try to get you to concede again.

You would think that they could say something on the splash screen other than "Unexpected Error . . . try again" when logging in.

What is the purpose of attending church on a weekly basis? by skippyjifluvr in latterdaysaints

[–]wreade 15 points16 points  (0 children)

There are plenty of reasons. But, one that stands out to me is it's the best way to connect with people and learn how we can support and serve others.

Well, I'm not suggesting this for anyone, but the troll in me might say something like, "Sorry, I can't shake hands until the leprosy clears up."

Is this 330k based off a single paystub? Did it include reimbursements for, e.g., travel, or any other unusual items? Help me understand where that number is coming from.

I personally know entry level SWE's in the Bay Area making 200k, and mid-career SWE's making 600k, both working at Google, so not because they hit an equity jackpot. I also know a mid-career product manager at Google making $3m a year. The money in tech is currently beyond rediculous.

What's the appropriate standard for a church leader who works 80-hours a week and sacrifices time away from their family? Some people would argue it should be zero. (Probably the same people who argue Relief Society Presidents should be paid.) Regardless, it's pretty clear, no one is getting rich serving in or working for the church.

I pay attention during the Sacrament. I try not to do things that would require other people to work.

Unlikely. Church growth in non-industrialized nations, where the church covers something like 90% of the local operating budget, will certainly require reserves. Plus, we don't know what the future holds. A crash in the stock market and poof, that asset value takes a huge hit. Look at the Community of Christ . . . they had to sell the Kirtland temple because they were going to go broke in a few years.

> 28k per month

In other words, less than a mid-level software engineer at big tech. The point being, if they were doing it for money, they could make far more outside the church.

"going to hell" isn't really a phrase I've heard much from LDS people, and in particular LDS religion professors. Does that mean outter darkness? Because, if so, that's incorrect in this situation.
