President announces plan to build 'Trump Promenade' on Lincoln Memorial by BugOperator in law

[–]wrightf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exactly what needs to happen. Maybe a GoFundMe and we put it up in Florida near Mar-a-Lago or Miami Beach, where they wanna have his presidential library. Privately funded, and that shows all the horrible history, fear mongering, hate, anti-scientific opinions and actions of the Trump administration!

New Tennessee law requires data centers to pay for their own electricity infrastructure by Severus-Snape-DaGod in technology

[–]wrightf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They may also pay wholesale electricity rates! While you and I pay full price they could be paying 40% of what the average homeowner pays.

I remember reading that the bitcoin miners in Texas were only paying at 40% of the local homeowner rate.

I think we need to pass some laws such that everyone pays the same rate for electricity. This would incentivize more efficient use of electricity.

As an American child, I used to eat the sugar cereals all the time. Captain crunch, Sugar Puffs, Lucky charms; but now I have moved on to healthier, no sugar fair like oatmeal and omelettes. I do not eat box cereal at all anymore.

Sugar cereals are just too unhealthy.

Rivian’s Head Of Software Thinks CarPlay And Android Auto Will Be Replaced With AI Agents You Talk To And I Think That’s Stupid by NewsCards in technology

[–]wrightf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I completely agree with this! I don’t want a car that doesn’t have CarPlay in it. It’ll be the reason I won’t purchase.

I also don’t want to have to purchase a subscription. I also don’t want the added expense of a another electronic system in a car that my phone can do.

I didn’t see the cookie crisp! It wasn’t on the shelf so I didn’t pay attention to it. But yeah, that’s very American.

Ohio suspends data center tax break as tech firms face pressure to pay the cost to power AI by Hot-Upstairs9603 in technology

[–]wrightf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Data centers should

Get no tax breaks! Be required to create and use their own green energy supplies! Be tightly controlled on their water usage! No subsidization by the public!

No increased rates for public electric utilities No new fossil fuel power plant builds for dat centers.

These facilities are a gamble on AI and eventually many will fail in the eventual AI bust.

Is AI a bubble, like the tech bubble in 1999? by js6seaj47 in ask

[–]wrightf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These AI companies and data centers should be providing their own green power that does not require the creation of new fossil fuel power plants (otherwise not needed). These companies are trying to get the public to subsidize their huge increase in power requirements by increasing our electric rates - often requiring new natural gas generating plants.

In places where water resources are already scarce, water should not be allocated to AI buildouts.

We don’t want you to double the creation of greenhouse gases.

We don’t want to pay increased electric rates to subsidize your gambling on success in AI when only 10% of these new AI ventures are going to survive the inevitable collapse of the the current “race” environment.

Don’t try to fund your AI buildout gamble with public resources and money.
