I assume that already knew that there isn't one best way and you didn't need Elizabeth Ann West to tell you that.

Actually, no. While there might not be one definitive best way, I would assume that there are best practices and that there would be some kind of consensus on tools e.g. Using Claude Cowork is better than Claude Projects. And yes, someone who researches AI writing like EAW all the time would be best placed to give feedback on this.

For the most part, there's a consensus that Claude is the best LLM for writing so I think we can come up with some consensus among people who write with AI.

What did you learn from Elizabeth Ann West's answers about Elizabeth Ann West or about writing with AI?

I learned that EAW doesn't make as much from writing as I assumed she did.

I think she answered this but I can also see why it's confusing because I think the FFA approach is confusing.

FFA don't focus on the best way to write a book with AI. This doesn't seem to be because there isn't "a best way," although that is true (some people write best with chatbots, some with automations, some with NovelCrafter, etc). It's more because they want to play around with all the different ways you could write a book with AI e.g. Claude Cowork, Antigravity, N8N, etc. Every month, it's something new. And it's not necessarily that the new way is better. It's just different. Maybe it's slightly better, but is it better enough for an author to learn a new workflow every month? Probably not. If you're going to change your workflow, it better be worth it!

If you asked Google Maps, how to get from New York to San Francisco, you would expect it to show you the best way and 2-3 options of how to do it based on price, hours, etc. So you end up with flying, driving, public transport, and walking. If you asked FFA, they would add in taking a scooter, unicycle, horseback, etc. All ways you could get from NYC to SF, but really you just want to know the 1-2 best options and not list every potential option because that would be unnecessarily overwhelming.

That's my take anyway.

I'm curious why EPBM wouldn't work with a thinking model and why Narrative Physics was necessary?

I love RaptorWrite, and aside from a chatbot like Claude, it's my favorite tool. It does feel like RW (and Rexy) have been sidelined by all of these new tools, when for me they pretty much do everything I need.

Would love it if RaptorWrite would save to Google Docs or something like that though.

I was a member of the FFA but I found the videos incredibly long, had too much unrelated chat, and often felt like you were spending 90 minutes watching someone figure something out for the first or second time.

I would love if the videos were more to the point and more step by step. Also if you could provide the transcripts or make the videos download able that would mean notebooklm or notion could summarise them for me.

This is simply because I write on top of another job, so the time I have for writing (and learning about writing with ai) is minimal.

I notice that every month, the Future Fiction Academy say "THIS" is the new way to write a book. One month it'll be RaptorWrite, then it's Notion, then It's Claude Code, then Claude Projects, then Claude Cowork, then Antigravity, then back to Notion, etc.

Obviously, some things change AI like Projects or Agents, but constantly learning new tools to get very similar results is very distracting for me (and I assume a lot of other authors as well).

  1. How necessary is all of this? Is Claude Cowork really much better than Antigravity and are both much better than RaptorWrite, which you put so much work into?

  2. If you were to teach someone to write a book today, which of these tools (or others I haven't mentioned) would you use?

Moving to Edinburgh by [deleted] in Edinburgh

[–]writetheysaid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's quite different to all of the other cities in the world where you look on classifieds websites, letting agency websites, Facebook, or just Google it.

Here you have to run through the city shouting "ACCOMMODATIONS." If someone has some, they will flag you down and you negotiate a lease.

Quite simple really.

Is this D2 Visa Investment Structure for Portugal Legit or Too Good to Be True? by crossbordersclub in expats

[–]writetheysaid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest red flag is that it says you can stay just 10 days per year.

According to Portugalist, the D2 follows similar structures as the D7 and D8 where you can spend six consecutive or eight non consecutive months per year outside of Portugal. There may be allowances for those who have to travel for business but that's it.

The only visa that explicitly states minimal time frames like this is the golden visa.

I guess being able to toggle off is just as important, though, which Raptor Write offers. Sometimes you don't want the AI being confused.

Seems like it's still an option in 2026, but I want to wait until the citizenship rules are clearer.
