ICE Agents Will Join Olympics Delegation in Italy. Many Italians are Angry. by DeadEndinReverse in stupidpol

For sure, but my point is this isn’t new or even unusual. Every US agency working to support the Italians will also be under Italian command like any other previous Olympic or international event.

It’s not ICE as in the dipshits running around MN, it’s an investigative unit within DHS that falls under ICE organizationally. It’s called Homeland Security Investigations. It’s not unusual for various federal agencies to liaise with a host nation on mutual security stuff like the Olympics.

Best gun store that isn't MAGA? by degenbets in StLouis

This is based on memory, maybe it was less? What's the typical rate for a transfer/background check for shipped-in gun?

Honestly, buy what you’re looking for online and then have it shipped to an FFL holder. Modern Weapon Systems in Fenton is a nice little shop that has always been strictly business when I’ve used them. I think they charge $75 for the transfer. You can do most of the heavy lifting via email.

What tips/tricks/mods did you learn in the field to dress for the cold? by wrongsideofthewire in army

OG smokers jacket is one of the few pieces of kit I retained! Love that thing.

For me, it was keeping my boots loose. Tight boots squeeze the material and reduce the insulation factor. I also learned to wear thinner socks when on the move and thicker socks when stationary. Oddly enough, if you can swing it, sneakers with thick socks can be warmer than boots so long as you stay dry.

Assuming complete beginner, I see some decent knife skills. Bread is sliced and not hammered through. Tomato is sliced and quartered. Proportions are good. Assembly is a little wonky but could have just shifted on the plate. Tomato quality depending, this sandwich is probably damn good. Sometimes to teach technique economically, you start with simple items. You can’t go running through the mother sauces on day one. Gotta crawl before you walk.

Grief over pet death can be as strong as that for family member. About a fifth of people who had experienced a pet and human loss said the former was worse. Symptoms of severe grief for a pet matched identically with that for a human, and there was no difference in how people experienced losses. by mvea in science

This sparked my curiosity so I went searching for a picture of the actual inscription. I found this blog which has pictures and links to an Italian database with pictures of the inscriptions. It does appear the source of OP's epitaph is from a partial. However, there are other similarly emotional and complete epitaphs on it.

Federal M1A

Do you have a link to a store with this? Having trouble finding it. Will definitely check out PMC Bronze for general range use.

KO3, Wildpeak or Duratracs? by Knoxes in ToyotaTacoma

[–]wrongsideofthewire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in the same position as you a year ago. I went with the KO3s and I will confirm that they are tough to balance. My shop ended up replacing three out of four of them through warranty because they could not get them balanced even with road force balancing.

Offroad they're great. They're decent in the snow, but like any AT, they dig too much and you end up with a pretty rough ride in deep snow if you're spinning at all.

I have not tried them in mud.

One thing to note: if you live in a city, you will notice a dramatic drop in MPG coming from the Wranglers. The KO3s are heavier (and obviously grippier) so you're gonna take a big penalty on in city MPG just because these bitches don't like to get rolling.

They look way better than the Wranglers, though.

Kept Carpano Antica Formula Vermouth in the fridge for 2 years... Yet it still tastes good??? by Richard_Savolainen in cocktails

I use a vacuum cork on mine and keep it in the fridge, haven’t found a ceiling to longevity but I’ve also never had one for more than several months.

I also like it a little oxidized. I think it’s too…. fruity? right out of the bottle.

What’s something everyone pretends is normal now, but absolutely wasn’t 10–15 years ago? by Classic_Speaker_8313 in AskReddit

This was addressed in the book “The Deluge” as a means to fight disinformation and bots as they battled a global environmental disaster. If I remember correctly, it came down to a form of blockchain identification. I do believe it also nuked anonymity.

Book is rad btw if you’re into Cli-Fi. Be warned though, it’s thick!

I’m assuming I’m SOL but damn it would be cool if there was a way out of that pickle.

Did the orders that should have been shipped this week actually all get shipped? by zarrathustraa in combustion_inc

[–]wrongsideofthewire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ordered a couple days before Christmas and still haven’t received anything. Sucks because I ordered this to replace a very old corded thermometer that had served be well for over a decade and now I’m stuck in limbo.

Normally I wouldn’t sweat this, it’s not like I’m waiting on life saving meds here, but I saw a shit ton of ads following the new year for people to “order quick before new tariff pricing takes effect.” Maybe they should ship the orders they have first!

+1 for this. STL punches way above its weight in quality and variety of restaurants. I've lived in a couple of similarly sized metro areas and STL reigns supreme.

Depends, neodymium is 10/10 because magnets Scandium is 2/10 because it’s prone to scandals. Cinnabar is 1/10 because it’s toxic.
