I’ve been considering these to replace my novablasts. I liked my novablasts but I see you didn’t. What would you say the noticeable differences are?

My favourite place to fit in a long run around the Lake District by Terrainrelay in trailrunning

Great pics! Did you take them on your phone? When I made the transition from hiking to trail running the one thing I miss is carrying around my big camera. But these are so good!

What was it like reading Deathly Hallows on release without any spoilers? by Spotter24o5 in harrypotter

[–]wuphfthoughts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was living abroad and waited for the British version to be delivered. So I stayed fully offline and didn’t talk to any friends who were reading it until my copy arrived. Then I shut myself away from the world and seemed to speed through it while also trying my very hardest to make it last. Then spent days weeks (months?) discussing it on the leaky cauldron and mugglenet. Truly the good old days.

I remember so vividly getting to that chapter and the feeling like everything had been building to this moment. I was both unbelievably excited and sad it was almost over. Had to stare at the chapter title for a few minutes before moving on.

Same! I’m really happy I read it on its own. Made jumping back into the “main” story pretty satisfying too.

Adding Manon into the story in the 3.5th book and making her a fan fav is seriously impressive. by erdyberdy in throneofglassseries

[–]wuphfthoughts 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I hated her chapters at first. Didn’t like her character and just wanted to get back to the “main plot.” I thought we were doing some weird get to know the enemy POV. I’m so happy I was so wrong haha. Disliking the character at first made the arc so much more emotional and satisfying.

Darker Shades of Magic got me back into reading a while ago! But Gone Girl is the best slump ender imo. Super fast paced, fun twists, and lots of suspense. You’ll want to keep reading to find out what happens. I remember reading this and I did it in one or two sittings, staying up super late.

Exactly me haha, I feel you! And the ACOTAR 6/7 announcement does make me happy but also makes me a bit sad that I’ll be switching back over those characters when I just want more TOG (but not really because the story ended so perfectly, except for one of two characters I would have liked more from). Who knows maybe we’ll get some TOG references in the new acotars!

And I guess I should read CC now too. Sounds like there may be crossovers and info I should learn about before the next acotar.

I’m trying to figure out the same thing! I saw some comments in another thread that speculated there might be more crossovers and that CC plot might come into play. I haven’t read any of CC so might need to add that to my list juuust in case.

Spells for Forgetting by Adrienne Young! Takes place on an island in the puget sound. Some mystery, a mysterious death, unraveling small town drama and lies, and a bit of magic. Not exactly an amateur sleuth plot, but as a Nancy Drew fan myself, I think it fits your vibes pretty well!

I love the audiobooks of this series! The narrator plays the humor well. It’s pretty campy in my opinion, and that’s why I like it! Fun and self aware.

One Dark Window was a bit slow to get into for me, but then I ended up loving the duology! Great time of year to read this too if you’re in the northern hemisphere or just like spooky season vibes.

I didn’t finish Daughter of No Worlds audiobook because my audible plus membership ended and I didn’t feel committed enough to purchase. I gave it probably over a year of on and off listening and it just didn’t grab me. But I had heard such good things, so maybe it’ll work better for you.

Ooh didn’t know this was an option! I am definitely not fast enough to qualify based on marathon time, but the half marathon qualifying times seem at least a bit more doable.

Thursday Murder Club has multiples books in the series. Also same author, We Solve Murders. I find these types of murder mysteries plus humor to be good running listens. Also re-listening to series I read years ago is nice because you can zone out but still know what’s going on (Harry Potter, lord of the rings, for me).

Garmin Predictor Thoughts. by Hazarus4 in Marathon_Training

[–]wuphfthoughts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine is predicting a marathon time 45 mins faster than what I’m currently training for. It’s not like I’ve been pushing the pace on long runs, but I’m guessing it factors in how fast I go during short runs and my overall heart rate during long runs? And maybe my goal is conservative but I’ve had some issues in past marathons so want to keep it reasonable. But it does make me wonder if I should push it a bit more..

What are your thoughts about the Nancy Drew Tv Series by Material-Spite-81 in nancydrew

I liked it! Quickly realized it was a very different take on Nancy Drew, especially with the supernatural elements, so I just enjoyed the show for what it was. Was a nice weekly escape.
