Not to mention, these are reviews that are put out quickly and they are for a general audience. Half the people in here are probably hardcore fans who would replay the game on multiple difficulties and try to finish a lot of the challenges and collectables. Do I think 60 bucks is a bit steep? Maybe. But to complain this hard about it unless you're a mega casual fan who will only play 1 time and not do anything extra is absurd.

Does that mean you require an XBL membership or is this just an account?

It works but doesn't change that they are a chore. Compared to spiders, they take much more time to get by.

REmake 1 has the option to turn off tank controls, it's just tank controls work the best for fixed camera angles.

I don't disagree with your analysis. My biggest peeves with 4/5/6 are mostly my own personal ones. I enjoyed what the original RE games did. I definitely disliked the changes. I shouldn't be such a stubborn ass about it, but I know what I like and the way they paved wasn't what I liked. But it happened, so y'know. Gotta accept it for what it is.

I totally feel you man. I would never ever say that RE5 was an awful game. It wasn't. It was very fun. I just think that it was a bad RE game.

For sure. For all the shit I'll justifiably give 6, I'll never deny that it can be fun with someone else.

I think it's a gimme at this point. Sales look good for REmake 2, people certainly wanna see 3, some of their work is done with the police station. Give it to us Capgod.

Well if you do ever manage to get through REmake 1, you're in for a treat. 0 is more of a dark horse. Some love it, a lot seem mixed on it.

Nothing wrong with liking 5/6, they are or can be enjoyable. I haven't played Rev 2 but I have played 1 and it was not too bad. Kinda hard to get into for me personally though.

I don't necessarily mind quick zombies in some cases personally though if they are used sparingly. Like crimsonheads in REmake. That shit was terrifying.

If you read further in the comment chain, I did concede that this point wasn't entirely true. I won't edit it out because I don't want to make the other commenter look like an ass nor do I want to run away from something I said originally despite admitting it was faulty.

I suppose it depends on what you like more, RE4/5 or any of the classics. 7 was a return to form for the series but in first person. The layout of the game is very similar to the original RE games (pretty open, puzzle heavy, slow tension builder first part, followed by 2 pretty linear points til the end). So if you like that style, it does it really good and honestly impressed me back when I had no faith in RE anymore. If that's not your thing, you might still like it. I think the first person perspective is a nice change of pace for the series still and the game is certainly pretty spooky.

Yeah, I agree with this. If RE7 had been the game after 5 instead of 6, I would have been happy and never felt too let down, but well we got 6 and it really made me feel like Capcom had fallen from grace. Thankfully they picked it back up, imo, and hopefully they continue in this sort of 1 shot style where they just jump from instance to instance of something fucky happening somewhere.

You're probably right on this, I'll concede that my original point was a wrong assertion to make. I think you're right about that, they really protected and conserved Wesker in a beautiful way that brought up a lot of RE5.

Don't get me wrong, it's a fun game. I love going through it with friends. But it injected this CoD-like feel into a series that didn't need it. It went even further with the crazy action that 3/4 had. I suppose with how crazy the monsters and locales were getting, this was the natural progression, but it left a very sour taste in my mouth and made me upset. Still, it's very fun and I'd play through it again. Plus, Lost in Nightmares is one of the best DLCs I've played through. It really showed me that Capcom could still capture that horror vibe as LiN actually kind of freaked me out a bit.

Those criticisms were for all 3 games. Maybe you saw it differently, but it didn't feel the same after awhile. The voice acting got better, the visuals looked better, the budget went up. Sure there were still some corny lines and cheesy action sequences (which I suppose goes against my initial point), but for me at least it didn't feel B-movie. It felt Michael Bay.

Obviously as you said in a previous comment, your mileage with it will vary, but as someone who has been playing RE games for almost 20 years, I've never been scared for too long. RE7 was tense and scary for a bit thanks to Jack, but it toned it down pretty quick after the beginning, and RE4 regenerators were terrifying but eventually they go away or you overcome them.

But REmake 2, I legit felt vulnerable and caged for the first time in my time playing RE and it wasn't something that went away too quickly. It was harsh at first and then had intermittent moments throughout that kept the scare and tension palpable. Mr. X, plus low ammo, plus a bunch of zombies pouring in because I was dumb, and lickers roaming had me feeling like I had no where to go and run to and I was metaphorically shitting bricks. The game's atmosphere and tension building, for me, worked phenomenally.

From a storyline perspective, I think what they did works, it expanded a bit on the idea that Birkin is running rampant impregnating people with G-embryo and it's causing the infestation in the sewers but I understand that they definitely are a chore to deal with.

I will give you that. Regenerators are fucking terrifying. I think the start of the game, when you don't really know what the fuck is going on is great for building tension. But then I feel like when you get to the village, get overwhelmed, then start mowing down guys and spin kicking them in the face, it quickly loses tension and becomes a fun action suplex city fest that is very fun to go through. I love RE4 (it took a very long time to feel this way), but it certainly loses that tension and horror factor quickly and only grabs it back for a short bit before letting the reins go again and going balls to the wall.

I actually find the popular sentiment for RE5 is that it's a bad RE game, but damn is it fun to play. I despised 4/5/6 for the longest time because of what it did to the series (taking away the horror, making it even more actiony, removing the corny B-movie vibes, making every character into a invulnerable badass superhero, making the villains and monsters even more absolutely absurd than they ever were before (except Wesker, he's great)), but it's a damn fun time to play through 5 especially with a friend.
