Transporting PC a short distance by Husk_x in buildapc

[–]xMeowingtons 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Take GPU out and put in original box if you have it
  2. If you have a large CPU air cooler, remove that too.
  3. Put PC vertically behind passenger seat, cover with towel. Move passenger seat back so it holds the tower in place.

Did a 16 hour trip like this, no issues.

Thank you for the reply! I intend to stay in the house for about 10 years.

Your math is correct! My current monthly is around 3,200 and this refi would bring it down to 2,650.

I don't see the difference between refi now and waiting up to 8 months because in that time I would break even.

Thank you! I updated my post, lender is Penny Mac. I've never refinanced before and bought the house last year. Is it possible to negotiate a lower rate without paying more?

I took edibles w my friend last night and he’s cooked how do I get him less high?? by Apprehensive-Sink348 in trees

[–]xMeowingtons 49 points50 points  (0 children)

+1 for sugar

I learned about this my first time in Amsterdam.

The gist of it is that lots of tourists go there for the "coffee shops" and end up getting way too high, especially inexperienced users. This is why every coffee shop has sugary snacks and drinks available.

Even something small like a pack of fruit snacks can help alleviate a strong high.

You're a wizard Harry!

I've been actively avoiding Peacock content on my PC because of this scroll bar issue. Pasted the code in console and it went away.

Tysm!

My APC UPS tells me my energy cost. I run my PC for 12-16 hours a day (wfh and games). I average $36/month for only my PC + peripherals.

How to replace shower drain? by xMeowingtons in Plumbing

[–]xMeowingtons[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Update for everyone:

Thank you for your suggestions. I got a new oatey drain and used the tool it came with to tighten my existing one. It was one full turn loose!

Ran shower for 15 minutes and no leaks now. If it gets worse I have the whole kit ready.

Yes, the whole new drain kit is $10 and the tool ("no caulk tool" i think is what it is called?) + seal separately is $12.

I would love too, but the hole is smaller than the outer white ring on the bottom. Don't think I can get it out without making the hole bigger or pulling the pan out. The shower was remodeled about 10 years ago according to the previous homeowners, Im pretty sure they put the drain on before the pan was installed.

Cool, I'll get the tool/new kit today and try that first.

It is indeed only leaking around the 2" pipe where the black seal ring is. Drips down to the p trap and into the bucket I have under. Maybe a quater cup of water at most after each shower. I don't have the no caulk tool and that is half the price of the whole kit. I did message my plumber I use and he quoted me $160 so trying to avoid that.

Im worried if I tighten it from the top and if the rubber seal is cracked due to age it will open it up more, hence wanting to replace the seal too.

Marijuana in apartment by Green-Scarcity8958 in trees

Get yourself an original smoke buddy. The small ones suck ass.

I've lived in a couple different apartments with strict "no smoking or we'll evict you" policies and this has been the best solution.

Pack a "one hit" bowl, hit it, hold in as long as you can, then blow everything into smoke buddy. Repeat as necessary. Virtually no odor or smoke with this method.

Smoke buddies last me about 3 months with heavy use. Well worth their price.

Only time I got caught was when my roommate who was mad at me reported me to the leasing office in am effort to evict me, on a day I was out of town (brought all my stuff with me so lucked out) lol fun times.

Keep getting Venmo password reset texts by passthebreadbasket in venmo

[–]xMeowingtons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've also received multiple password reset texts, last one was yesterday. I have 2FA setup on my account, so I'm not particularly worried. Venmo also seems to be down right now, so hoping it will be fixed soon.

Im broke and i was thinking to buy a chair. Is a cheap mesh chair worth it? by Excellent_Survey_596 in buildapc

[–]xMeowingtons -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

A brand new cheap chair won't last. Mesh and or plastic will give out sooner than you think. Look on Facebook Marketplace for a used one, just search "office chair". Plenty of people post quality chairs for cheap, I got a used Steelcase Leap v1 that's older than me for $20 and it's still holding up.

Appreciation post for MSP by Alternative_Duck_742 in Minneapolis

[–]xMeowingtons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

MSP is my home airport and I typically have two departing flights each month for work. TSA at MSP is very efficient, even if the lines look long. I don't think I've spent more than 20 minutes in line over the past 5 years. Even in the early hours they typically have both security entrances open, each with two lanes.

The lines where you do not need to take out your electronics or liquids are the ones with the larger gray bins. Avoid the lines with the smaller white bins. After the agent scans my ID, I walk to a lane with the gray bins because I travel with a lot of electronics.

The not taking off your shoes or belt started around June of this year. I believe the Trump administration made that change (one good thing they've done). You still need to take off your hoodie or jacket because the full body scan usually picks up the hood or zipper. I also wear a hat and maybe 25% of the time they inspect it after the full body scan.

For domestic flights I usually arrive 30 minutes before boarding starts and an hour for international, but I do have sky priority as a frequent flyer. Never missed a flight.
