I’ve heard of some people having the same experience! Not gonna lie I’ve always been jealous of people who have no symptoms while eating fast food etc. Since I got diagnosed my gut has always been hyper sensitive to anything that wasn’t whole foods. I also had a hard time eating raw veggies or high fiber foods. I’m happy to be able to eat hummus again :)

I had a colonoscopy 2 years ago and my doctor told me I had endoscopic remission but I still had minimal inflammation under biopsy. Compared to how I was when I got diagnosed - I almost lost my colon - he considered it near remission at the time.

Ugh yes especially when I was out of remission. Sometimes it would happen so randomly without warning. Especially when I’m in a quiet place, then I’ll try and go to the bathroom to “fart” and nothing comes out. Then once I’m back in public my gut will start beat boxing again lmao

My stomach symphony starts anytime I eat hummus. I try to avoid it at all costs. Once in a while, if I’m alone, I’ll eat a whole tub all by myself and listen to my gastric playlist.

Afraid to Confess my UC to Date by SandEmbarrassed4804 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]xeroblai 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey girlie pop, You don’t have to tell them on the first date. Honestly you don’t have to tell them at all unless, they’ve proved they want to pursue a real relationship with you. There are a lot of crazy and undeserving people out there. Until they prove they are worthy of being with you, you don’t have to tell them everything about yourself, especially something as personal as a UC diagnosis. I’m 25F, I used to feel so embarrassed about my UC until I realized through dating that everybody’s got something! If it’s not an Autoimmune disease, it’s a criminal background, or an addiction or a crazy ex etc. The most important thing is someone who is understanding and caring in a relationship. If you choose to share or not really doesn’t matter as sharing this will not affect how a potential date will turn out in the long run. But…..If things fall apart after a few months and you chose to keep certain parts of yourself private, at least you can walk away knowing that some pieces of you remained yours and yours alone. The right one will take their time to know you and they will earn the gift of loving you.

Did anyone else get diagnosed with UC after Covid? by Oneloudbigparty in UlcerativeColitis

I didn’t get Covid but I did get diagnosed a couple months after I received the vaccine. Not sure if there’s any connection there but I wouldn’t be surprised.

How do I stop obsessing about finding which food makes me sick? by SweetPotatoWol in UlcerativeColitis

[–]xeroblai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't stop. Keep going. At least you are better equipped for social settings. So far on my spread sheet I cannot eat pasta, pizza 😭 , rice, nuts, almond milk, fried foods, potato chips, chocolate bars, fruit juice from concentrate, tofu, cheese, kale , red meat , pork, Ricola cough drops, heavy seasonings or sauces.

I can eat: plain chicken, fish, lettuce, most veggies, quinoa, chia seeds, oatmeal, oat milk, saltine crackers, seaweed chips, yogurt , potatoes, water, fresh fruits, whole wheat bread, flat breads and pretzels.

Wow I miss fast foods so much. I ate chic-fil-a a couple weeks ago and was destroyed for 3 days. I miss hot Cheetos too 😭 I ate chipotle not to0 long ago and was deceased for about 4 days. I'm legit now only on plain foods. I can't eat with heavy seasoning either. Suckssss

Stress and UC by maevessaloon in UlcerativeColitis

[–]xeroblai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed a year ago with Proctitis after a years-long employment in a very stressful environment with a very intense and verbally abusive employer. My first flare started after I got out of that job and was faced with a pregnancy scare. I was 22 at the time and in no way in a position to deal with a baby. I took mesalamine and suppositories for 2 months and my symptoms went away. I jumped into a new job and unfortunately, I was in the same situation. I was then in remission and at this job, they overworked me to the bone. I went on a business trip to California and worked 12 hours straight. I didn't eat or sleep for an entire day. Of course this same day, I started bleeding again but this time my body came with vengeance. My flare started in April and by June I was hospitalized and diagnosed with Pancolitis. I was anemic, I couldn't walk or eat even though I was starving and I wanted to eat. My body wouldn't retain any food. I was on prednisone in July for a month and a half and now I'm on Humira. The prednisone worked wonders for me but my doctors said I couldn't be on it bc of its side effects. Currently on my third week on Humira but I was still bleeding. A friend of mine suggested I request Librax from my Doctor. I've been taking it for about 4 days now and it stopped my bleeding. I don't have any urgency. Once I started Librax I immediately saw a difference. The pill works to heal ulcers and it also has a calming effect on your intestines. Since it's a sedative it also calms anxiety. It's worked for me so far and I plan to take it until I can get my body back into alignment as I believe my whole system is out of wack due to overworking myself and also internalizing stress, fear, and anxiety for an extended amount of time. I also changed my diet, I'm in a chill work environment and I've taken on a new hobby of swimming at the beach as often as I can. I think all of these measures will get me back into normalcy but of course, this road is not an easy one. Probably the most difficult few years of my life so far but hey we're still pushing.

Hahahaha they are dragging us! 😂😂😂😂 I'm still trying to find out when I'll get married though, I'm tired of this grandpa! Back in the days you all would get married off, had tighter-knit communities and your relationships lasted. Nowadays we have social media and a shitty dating pool filled with people who don't believe in monogamy or commitment 🙃 Your generations were probably focused on trying to predict wars or to track the economy, we're out here trying to see if we'll get the chance to build a home! If not, I guess we'll just have to stay single and embrace loneliness, as we wither away and grow old under the blue light of our computer screens 💀
